'Red Notice' becomes most-watched Netflix film, despite it being 'one of the worst movies' ever
Despite the mixed reviews, 'Red Notice', one of the latest action-comedy on Netflix has been the most-watched movie on the platform after stacking up 328.8 million viewing hours. The streaming giant announced the movie's success on Tuesday saying over half of its 214 million subscribers across the globe had tuned in to watch the movie starring Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, and Dwayne Johnson. The movie had a theatrical release as well but managed to make just $2 million of its $200 million production cost. With this, the film surpassed the most-watched title that was initially held by Sandra Bullock's 'Bird Box'.
The film stars Johnson as John Hartley, an FBI agent who teams up with an art thief, Nolan Booth (Reynolds) to catch a high-profile criminal played by Gadot. It pipped Bullock's thriller that had 282 million hours in four weeks. The streamer also said that 'Red Notice' was listed in the Top 10 Netflix category in 94 countries since its release. However, the opinion differed on social media.

"Great fun but average movie imo. Popularity easily attributed to star actor line-up and not necessarily the quality of the movie," read one of the tweets. This was seconded by another who wrote, "Red Notice wasn’t great. The wardrobes kept changing every time the camera switched back, editing was terrible, 3 usually great actors were just ok at best." Another remarked, "I watched it because I’ve watched everything else on #netflix to the point I’m learning new languages from watching foreign flicks!!! Movie was subpar with lackluster storyline and mediocre acting."
The rant continued. "How many actually watched the whole movie tho? We couldn't make it through cuz it was terrible - and I've watched a lot of bad movies on Hallmark and Amazon! " a comment read. Some even went as far as noting down time stamps to show where the movie lost the audiences. "Some dialogs by Rock was so cheesy and amateur! For example 1:18:00 and goes on for three minutes!" a user wrote. "Didn’t watch it and also know nobody who did, so I can’t imagine I’m that out of touch with the mainstream to have heard nobody talk about this movie," a tweet said. And the final declaration: "One of the worst movie i have ever seen".
