Psy teases fans with new single 'That That' produced by ‘bestie’ Suga of BTS

‘That That’ will be released on April 29, at 6 pm KST (5 am ET) on all music platforms like Spotify, MelOn, Apple Music, and more

Seems like a legendary collab had been in the brewing all along while fans had their eyes set on BTS in the USA. Psy has been known as the original king of K-pop all thanks to his viral hit ‘Gangnam Style’ that came to become a hit dance song in the early 2010s and to this day is isolated from the genre of K-pop. On the other hand, we have BTS’ rapper and in-house producer Suga who is known as the silent dynamite of the group where he often keeps it low-key but his music speaks for himself.

Otherwise known as Min Yoongi or by his rap pseudonym, August D, the BTS rapper has a lot of well-acclaimed collaborations that show his skill as a producer. Over the last few years, Suga has produced songs for and collaborated with artists like IU, Halsey, Suran, Epik High, Heize, as well as Japanese singer, ØMI that have been loved by fans globally. Now as the K-pop legend Psy announced that his lead single, ‘That That’ is produced by none other than Suga of BTS.

Psy collabs with BTS Suga

On April 26, Psy announced that his comeback album, ‘Cheap 9’, which comes after five years since his last full-length release, will feature none other than Suga who was in charge of the production of his lead single, ‘That That’. While Suga is not the only big name attached to Psy’s album, the legendary singer stated that working with the BTS member felt seamless. The album ‘Cheap 9’ is a 12-track album with ‘That That’ as its title track. Psy’s ‘That That’ produced by Suga of BTS will be released on April 29, at 6 pm KST (5 am ET) on all music platforms like Spotify, MelOn, Apple Music, and more.

BTS Suga hopes to be best friends with Psy

Psy who is older than Suga by 16 years stated, “I did not feel the (age) gap at all,” while working on ‘That That’ with Suga. On the other hand, Suga showed emotions like a fanboy said, “At first, to be honest, I was very nervous,” but then stated how much fun it was working with Psy. The legendary singer responded, “I’d be grateful (of Suga) if you could call me your best friend.” Suga also claimed that working with Psy was so fun that the duo became best friends despite the BTS member being younger than Psy. The single ‘That That’ is co-produced by Suga and Psy, who both took charge of the writing, composing, and arrangement of the lyrics for this song.

Fans of BTS have always loved artists that have openly praised and acknowledged BTS’ achievements without any personal vendetta and to many ARMYs, Psy is one such artist. Fans who have seen Psy being close with BTS’ V in the past as well as Suga now are happy about the collaboration with the legendary singer. One fan said, “I've always liked how he openly acknowledged the tannies. atleast its safe to say there are people in the industry who aren't shy to openly congratulate them.” One fan said, “Kpop stans fighting tooth and nail for Psy in attempt to discredit BTS while the man himself sought out one of the tannies for his album title track. Kpoppies just keep taking hit after hit huh.”

One fan joked, “And kpop stans kept trying to use Psy against bts it’s just so funny.” One fan reminded, “Never forget that PSY was one of the small handful of k-artists who congratulated BTS PUBLICLY on getting the number 1 for Dynamite... One overwhelmed fan stated, “So let me get this straight we just got jimin ost, have prod suga on a psy track end of april, bbmas in may, prod suga on bts in the seom + the whole game, comeback june 10, muster 2022, sowoozoo dvd, festa, world tour (manifestation).. we are so booked and busy.”
