'Dear Edward' will not return for another season
The show, exclusively produced by Jason Katims along with Jeni Mulein, Ann Napolitano, and Fisher Stevens, has been canceled by Apple TV+. The show was adapted from the book by Ann Napolitano of the same name. Based on a true story, the show followed a 12-year-old boy named Edward Adler, who was the sole survivor of a horrifying plane crash. His family members died on that plane, leaving the boy's life filled with tragedy
The heartbreaking film shows how the little child, with the help of others around him, was able to move on with his life. It also demonstrates how he developed new relationships and friendships as he recovered from the trauma. The show stars Connie Britton, Taylor Schilling, and Colin O’Brien.
The true story behind 'Dear Edward'
Ann Napolitano wrote the book titled 'Dear Edward' which was released in 2020 and later converted into a 10-episode show of the same name by Apple TV+. The book is based on the true story of a young Dutch boy named Ruben, who was the only survivor of a plane crash that killed 103 people. The boy was returning from a safari holiday with his family in South Africa.
After reading about the tragedy, Ann was worried about the boy and a bit curious about how he will move on from this tragedy. Although Ruben was protected by his uncle and aunty after he got out of the hospital, the author found it difficult to "imagine how the boy would be OK", which is why she took it upon herself to create "a set of circumstances to make him OK".
'Dear Edward' which premiered its first season in February is available to stream on Apple TV+.
