PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Maxine Simmons' (Kristen Wiig) life at Palm Beach has been nothing less than traumatic in Apple TV+'s 'Palm Royale'.

Once aspiring to a lavish lifestyle in the elite society, she is now constantly challenged, finding survival at Palm Beach increasingly arduous with each passing day.

Her plan was simple- when her husband Douglas Dellacorte's (Josh Lucas) wealthy and ailing aunt Norma Dellacorte (Carol Burnett) dies, they would inherit all her wealth and live extravagantly. However, reality didn't unfold as expected.

Not only did she struggle to maintain the high expenses, but Maxine was also blindsided when she discovered that Norma intended to donate her entire wealth to a trust rather than give it to Douglas. Yet, their challenges didn't stop there.

Norma Delacorte, once on the brink of death, begins a remarkable recovery. In the climax of Episode 6, she shocks viewers by grabbing a revolver upon waking up from paralysis.

The recent episode keeps audiences on edge as she holds on to the firearm throughout Skeet Rollins' funeral.

Mid-episode, as Maxine escorts Norma to the washroom, tension escalates when Norma subtly retrieves the revolver from her purse, leading viewers to speculate that she might be planning to kill Maxine. However, her plan is thwarted as the opportunity never arises.

Later, when Robert Diaz (Ricky Martin) discovers the revolver in Norma's handbag, he initially assumes that she kept it for her safety, fearing Maxine, who has forcefully taken over her mansion and bank balance. Norma's expressions are enough to tell us that Robert guessed it all wrong.

As Robert speculates further, suggesting Norma may have intended to murder Maxine, Norma's demeanor shifts, confirming Robert's suspicion this time.

Since the beginning, Norma hasn't held a favorable opinion of Maxine. She views Maxine as a gold digger who trapped Douglas into marriage.

When bedridden, she witnessed Maxine stealing from her. Maxine and Douglas have together depleted her entire wealth, which gives Norma enough reasons to pull the trigger.

However, we can speculate that Norma would eventually not kill Maxine. Despite Maxine's recent poor choices, she is not a bad person by heart.

Despite the theft, she looked after Norma. Additionally, Robert reassures Norma that Maxine may not be as bad as she initially seems.

Robert, who doesn't want any risk of an accident, has disposed of all the revolvers at the mansion, leaving Norma without a weapon, implying that Maxine's life is no longer in immediate danger.

However, her fate remains uncertain as she is unlikely to inherit Norma's wealth. If Norma has a change of heart and begins to see goodness in Maxine, she might eventually pass on the inheritance to the couple.

'Palm Royale' is available to stream on Apple TV+.
