Norma Dellacorte (Carol Burnett) faces depleting wealth, while Perry Donohue (Jordan Bridges) engages in illegitimate business dealings, leaving Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) and Douglas Dellacorte (Josh Lucas) uncertain of their fate.
In the previous episodes, we witnessed Perry convincing Douglas to enter a real estate deal, which resulted in Douglas making substantial payments to Perry, the Prince of Luxembourg (Ben Palacios), and various other contractors to seal the deal.
Why is Douglas Dellacorte arrested in 'Palm Royale' Episode 7?
In 'Palm Royale' Episode 7, Douglas becomes anxious upon Perry's arrest by federal authorities. He knows that it's just a matter of time before his involvement comes to light.
Douglas confesses to Maxine that he has paid bribes to several contractors, council members, and planning commission personnel. Maxine's shock multiplies when she realizes that the cheques bear her name, putting her at risk of arrest by the feds.
When law enforcement arrives to arrest Maxine, Douglas steps forward and admits that she was not involved and that he should bear the consequences of his actions.
How does Maxine Simmons save Douglas Dellacorte from the feds in 'Palm Royale'?
As the Dellacortes are on the verge of bankruptcy, Maxine holds onto the $75,000 cheque meant for Mary's auction. However, when she tries to encash it for the lawyer's fee, she encounters difficulties. As she struggles, her gaze falls upon a 'Wanted' list, shocking her with one of the names listed.
Maxine devises a plan to trade up by providing information on Renigald Baggins, who assumed a false identity as the Prince of Luxembourg, to the authorities. Baggins has been accused of identity theft, forgery, and wire fraud. In exchange for his whereabouts, Maxine negotiates with the feds to drop all charges against Douglas and release their seized assets.
In the episode's climax, Robert Diaz (Ricky Martin) excitedly awaits his Prince Charming, unaware of the unfolding events. Meanwhile, Maxine brings Douglas home which suggests that Baggins has been apprehended.
