Fans say minutes after BTS’ RM gave a shoutout to Will Smith, the actor burst onto the Oscars 2022 stage to smack comedian Chris Rock across his face

The world may currently be reeling after Will Smith’s very public altercation with comedian Chris Rock but K-pop fans are now experiencing a ‘That’s So Raven’ Moment. Getting a video byte out of the members of the biggest boy band in the world has become a fad in order to lure fans of BTS to tune into any major show or award function. Be it BTS members appearing in the ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S Reunion’ back in 2021 or be it including 1 second of BTS’ single, ‘Friends’ from their 2021 album ‘BE’ in the Marvel movie, ‘Eternals’.

This time, BTS members made a surprise appearance in a small video byte for the 2022 Oscars on March 28. In the video, all seven members of the South Korean boy band appeared on screen discussing their favorite musical performance in a movie where the members talked about movies like ‘Coco’ or other Disney and Pixar movies. Jimin said he really like ‘Coco’ while RM (Namjoon) stated that he watched the movie thrice and cried all three times. Member V (Taehyung) said how he loved Pixar movies and J-Hope pointed out that he was a fan of Disney movies.

BTS RM’s ‘Shoutout to Will Smith’

While talking about Disney movies, BTS's rapper J-Hope said he really loved the live-action version of Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ that was released in 2019. Soon after that, leader RM chimed in saying, “Shoutout to Will Smith.” The video ended with a clip of Will Smith from the movie ‘Aladdin’ but what followed after BTS’ short video at the 2022 Oscars was a frenzy. The reportedly unscripted incident involving Will Smith smacking Chris Rock right across the latter’s face is now a meme on the Internet but fans of K-pop are now joking about Jungkook’s reaction to RM’s shoutout.

Fans claim that RM’s shoutout to Will Smith felt like a ‘That’s So Raven’ moment where Jungkook who may have just foreseen the future is shocked with the BTS’ leader's shoutout to the ‘Men In Black’ fame star.
