What happens in 'On a Wing and a Prayer'?
Doug White and his family, including his wife and two daughters, take the flight back home to Louisiana after his brother's funeral. They hop on a private flight on Easter Sunday with their pilot, Joe. As they take off, the pilot starts to feel uneasy and falls unconscious. The mid-air plane with a dead pilot creates havoc in White's mind. He tries to contact them for help. Miami Center comes to his rescue when Lisa takes over the command to guide White, who has zero experience with this kind of flight. He is directed to Fort Myers with an experienced pilot, Brian, who tries his best to help the family on the flight. Dan, an employee of Fort Myers, enlists the help of Kari, an experienced pilot with a family history, to take on the mantle of helping White and his family make a safe landing and survive the storm moving towards them.
The power in faith
As the journey of White and his family take turns as problems with everything make their way in between them, Kari tries his best to help the family survive this flight. As everyone was engrossed in helping them, the Whites turned toward God as they put their faith in him for their survival.
The movie is fast-paced and on point, bringing the main plot into action. It has many elements where the theme of 'faith' is explained clearly. Although many characters and their lack of background information make it difficult to figure them out, the ending sums it all up. Overall, 'On a Wing and a Prayer' is feel-good and a decent watch for the holiday season. It might disappoint a bit with its straight plot, but it will serve its purpose of resonating faith among the audience.
