SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: The K-pop boy group CIX is back with their fifth mini-album ‘OK’ Episode 1: OK Not’. Expanding on their extensive storyline from their previous release, we get to see a mature CIX for their latest inclusion of the ‘OK’ series. It is said to be the first episode of the series following the prologue full-length album ‘OK’ Prologue: Be OK’. With a total of four tracks, ‘458’ happens to be the lead single of the new mini-album. It was released a year after the prologue album which had seen immense success as it was in the Top 4 of Gaon Album Chart and the Top 20 of Japan’s Oricon chart.

CIX is a five-member K-pop group that debuted in July 2019 with their first mini-album ‘Hello Chapter 1: Hello, Stranger’. Following their first solo concert in Seoul in April, CIX embarked on their first US tour ‘Rebel’ that ended in New York in May. Having rested following their successful first tour, the group is back. With ‘OK’ Episode 1: OK Not’, the boys are in touch with their emotions as they introspect and try to dissect love. They go through the different stages of the emotion like winning their lover’s heart, the struggle between reason and instinct, and the need to break the rules.

CIX show a mature side in the ‘OK’ Episode 1: OK Not’ album

‘OK’ Episode 1: OK Not’ shows CIX growing up as they sing about the elements that arise through love like pain, desire, patience, emptiness and more. In line with the album’s message, each track experiments with different struggles. ‘Without You’ is a trippy rock song with hip-hop sounds about redeeming oneself through love. ‘Bend the Rules’ is about enduring the pain of breaking rules for love with dreamy synths and trap beats. ‘Drown in Love’ is inspired by British rock complete with electric guitar and piano sounds as CIX sings about the end of love. The title track ‘458’ is the grandest track with heavy bass with an emotional melody.

FIXs (CIX’s fandom) were excited for the comeback as the boy group dropped the music video for ‘458’ on Monday, August 22. The title ‘458’ is inspired by Ferrari, as well as the speed of light which means CIX is trying to reach their lover at the fastest speed. In the dark music video, the boys are rebels as they struggle with their emotions in doing the right thing and following their hearts with motifs of fallen angels. They all look and sound amazing and the production is really cool. This track is going to sound so good on headphones.” Another fan wrote, “This comeback screams power.” One fan loved the b-sides, “Cix bend the rules bridge + final chorus. music peaked here.” Another FIX added, “Ngl ulting cix was the best decision i’ve ever made as a kpop stan.”
