Fans are eagerly hoping for Max's jealousy to spark a 'Sharpwin' romance

The relationship if one calls it that, between Dr Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman) and Dr Cassian Shin (Daniel Dae Kim) has mainly skirted around the will they won't they angle for the past few episodes. But there is nothing like a personal challenge to test the seriousness of a relationship and it seems that on this front the Cassian Helen romance has passed with flying colors.

After Helen lost her half-brother in Iran (interestingly the actor who plays Dr Helen Sharpe is also part Iranian) Dr Cassian rose to the occasion and comforted Helen in her time of grief. Helen shared how she felt she had wasted so much time not getting to know her brother better and she doesn't want to waste any more time with Cassian either. She is devastated that she couldn't reach Iran in time to say goodbye to her brother, and Cassian shares with her some Korean mourning rituals to help her. This leads to him also telling why he had to teach himself to be Korean because he was adopted when he was just three years old.

Clearly sharing their stories with each other has brought Cassian and Helen closer and on the verge of a real relationship. Fans of 'New Amsterdam' have even been grudgingly rooting for them. One fan tweeted, "that helen and cassian scene was so kinda cute pls don’t make me feel something for them #newamsterdam". So far however Max (Ryan Eggold) has remained unaware of the growing feelings between Helen and Cassian, but the latest trailer of 'New Amsterdam' shows that's changed. Max walks in on Helen and Cassian kissing and with a rather hurt look on his face says he should start knocking.

Fans claim the only reason they have been interested in the Helen Cassian romance is to see this jealous expression on Max's face. One fan tweeted, "max getting jealous is the only reason as to why i /care/ about cassian and helen ... if he wasn’t gonna get jealous i would ignore their scenes completely"

Some fans are just glad Max didn't have to walk in on a scene like this in Max and Helen's special place-the rooftop. One fan tweeted, "At least Max ain’t gonna find Helen and Cassian on the rooftop as was planned last season. That would’ve been sacrilegious! Whewww!"

So now Max knows about the Helen Cassian romance, the question is what comes next? Will Max pursue Helen or does he simply have too much on his plate personally with daughter Luna now back home and professionally as well.
