In a new clip from TLC's 'My Big Fat Fabulous Life,' Whitney Way Thore gets an update on her mother's health. It was revealed earlier this year that Babs Thore, who features on her daughter's reality show on a regular basis, had a second stroke after recuperating from her first in 2017.

On August 9, the show was back with a brand-new season. The first episode began with the heartbreaking news that Babs had a stroke. Viewers expressed their concern wishing her a speedy recovery.

'For the Love of Babs,' the first episode of the new season, saw the family coping with the news of Barbara (Babs) Thore's stroke. Whitney said during her confessional that when she learned of her mother's health, her heart literally dropped out of her body. The family recounted the incident. Glenn admitted that it was one of the lowest periods of his life. Whitney received a call from the hospital informing her that her mother had also screened positive for Covid-19 and that the entire family should be examined.

Whitney, fortunately, tested negative. Her brother and father, on the other hand, tested positive and had to be quarantined. Whitney was the only one who did not test positive, therefore the hospital allowed her to see her mother. She revealed that her mother was also refusing to eat, and that if this persisted, they would have to use a feeding tube. Whitney later revealed in the show that her mother's condition had not improved and that doctors had informed her that she had also acquired urinary tract infection. Whitney, despite her best efforts, burst into tears in front of the camera.

A few days later, the hospital informed Whitney that if her mother improved significantly, she would be admitted to rehab and then released. Unfortunately, the family's good fortune did not endure long. When Whitney went to see her mother at the end of the episode, the doctor disclosed that she wasn't in a position to be sent to rehab and that they should probably look for a nursing facility for Babs. The truth was too much for Whitney to bear, and she burst into tears since she had to tell the news to her father and brother, who were isolating. She revealed that her mother was her number one concern, and she couldn't face seeing her suffer so much.

Viewers can expect a good news

A new clip from episode 2 shows Babs surprising her entire family by making a remarkable recovery. Whitney is in her kitchen when her phone rings in the video, which will appear on TLC on Tuesday, August 16. "I'm so excited," her father says as she responds. Whitney breaks into tears realizing he must have good news.

Glenn goes on, "I think that Babs has been accepted to the rehab in Cone. The doctors looked at her chart and think that she's a good candidate for rehab," as Whitney exhales in relief.
In a confessional, Whitney says, "My family has been waiting on pins and needles to hear this news that my mom was accepted into rehab so, I mean, this is the biggest stepping stone that she could possibly have on her way to recovery. I know it's my mom that got the rehab, but I feel like I have a new lease on life, honestly, I'm so happy."

Glenn then hangs up the call, and Whitney tells the cameras what it means for her mother to leave the hospital and get treatment. "They're giving her a chance to enjoy the rest of her life. This honestly feels like a dream. It does not even feel real to me. The emotional roller coaster that we have been on, to now end up here, is so amazing," she bursts out laughing.

Season 10 of 'My Big Fat Fabulous Life' airs Tuesdays at 10 pm ET on TLC. The episodes are accessible on Discovery+ the same day they air.
