K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE does not need any introduction now as the overwhelming success of their last comeback album 'I Never Die' as well as lead single 'TomBoy' is proof enough that a self-produced girl group like them is what K-pop needs now. Miyeon, the vocal queen of (G)I-DLE, is finally making her solo debut after her official debut with the girl group in the year 2018. Just as Miyeon was busy teasing the release of her album, it was revealed that she was embroiled in dating rumors online that linked the girl group member with The Boyz's Hyunjae. Fans shut down all rumors about this as they anticipated Miyeon's grand debut.
Miyeon is the third member of (G)I-DLE to make a solo debut after members Yuqi and Soyeon's epic solo debuts. Miyeon is all set to make a debut with a six-track EP 'MY' that is titled after her initials. The tracklist for Miyeon's solo debut mini-album is decorated with six singles as well as interesting food items that tell the tale of the sweetness of the (G)I-DLE member. In the released tracklist, the fresh mint color and emotional props such as donuts and wine glasses harmonize to radiate the mood of spring. It is expected that with her solo debut, Miyeon will show her ability as a vocalist with five other tracks aside from the lead single 'Drive'.
The title track 'Drive' is a song that combines Miyeon's clear and refreshing vocals with the guitar sound that adds to the emotional atmosphere she is trying to create with her debut. The final track on her album titled 'Shower' (소나기) also has a special place for Neverlands (fans of (G)I-DLE) because the track is a gift to Miyeon from member Yuqi. The song will see a perfect harmony created by Yuqi's talented production and Miyeon's charming vocals.
Concept
For her solo debut, Miyeon has gone all out with not one but five sets of concept photos. The first and last concept photos show the (G)I-DLE member dressed in two different pink dresses, radiating her charming girly visual that fans are enjoying a lot. Other than the color of her outfits, Miyeon's chic eyes and innocent expression caught the viewers' attention and showed how the (G)I-DLE member can never fail any concept that she sets her mind on.
Other than her pink dresses, Miyeon was seen in an ethereal white concept image that was filled with soapy bubbles as she lay in a greenhouse garden with white curtains contrasting the green flora around her. She also went retro with the other two concepts for 'MY'. In one, she was dressed in green, driving a retro car to match the concept of her lead single, holding an ice cream in her hand with heart-shaped sunglasses and a green scarf around her head, while the other concept image saw her in two braids with freshly cut bangs, dressed in a casual red top with a retro hat on.
Teaser
Two days ahead of her solo debut, Cube Entertainment released a teaser for the (G)I-DLE member's solo debut single. Miyeon's lead single 'Drive' radiates her mood as she sits in a retro car filled with flowers, depicting the mood of her entire EP 'MY'. In particular, Miyeon's unique vocals that fans could briefly hear through the teaser foretell the all-time refreshing aura she is trying to create with 'Drive' which seems to be a song dedicated to the season of spring. With a guitar playing in the background matching the emotional atmosphere that Miyeon is trying to create with her clear and refreshing vocals, fans are in for a calming ride.
