'Love is Blind' Season 4: Micah faces 'major issue' as fiance Paul fails to impress her friends
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON: Will there be a wedding if your best friend doesn't approve of your significant other? That's a head-scratcher right there. One similar instance may have popped up for our season 4 'Love Is Blind' contestant Micah Lussier when her best friend doesn't vibe with her new fiance, whom she is set to marry in two weeks. So, will this deter Micah's decision at the altar?
Micah was smitten by two guys in the pod: Kwame Appiah and Paul Peden. She eventually let Kwame go and made things official with Paul. The couple got engaged and had a cute first date. Things appeared to become more complex for the pair once they arrived in Mexico. When Micah and Kwame met, there was an immediate affinity between them. Chelsea Griffin, Kwame's fiancée, voiced her displeasure with their flirty and at times angry interaction poolside. Kwame informed Chelsea that he thought he needed closure with Micah, and when she inquired if he had received it, he said, "Not fully but enough."

'This isn't it'
Micah escorted Paul to her best friend's birthday party in episode 8. Micah thinks since Paul is looking like a 'snack' and if she gets to present him well, her friends will fight like him. Her friend Micayla inquires as to what drew Paul to Micah prior to meeting her in person. Paul describes the strong connection that they developed in the pod and how easy their communication holds. Shelby, Micah's best friend, enters with another question, this time asking Paul how serious he is about his relationship with Micah. Shelby seemed serious in posing the question itself. Paul attempts to respond by saying that the fact that he doesn't date or get engaged to someone on the spur of the moment should address their query.
Micah describes Shelby as her harshest critic. Meaning, anyone she dates "has to pass, like, her test and Micayla too." Both Micah and Shelby laughed at how the latter has single-handedly terminated relationships for the former. Shelby justifies herself by saying, "they weren't good people. And they sucked."
Micayla further asks Paul if he found Micah too close to what he had imagined her to be before seeing her in person for the first time. As he proceeds to answer, Paul gets mocked by Micah for the way he articulately gives an answer, owing to his scientific background. Shelby says they are not used to that kind of conversation. Paul felt he was getting roasted by Micah's friends.
Micah then goes on to add that Shelby creates a good first impression that may turn sour later on. Shelby agrees, adding that she will undoubtedly have something negative to say about Paul at some point in the future. She encourages Paul to "keep it up" but also advises him not to enrage her. Micah claims she is readily enraged. "I can't say that I care," Paul replies swiftly. Micah jumped to protect her best buddy. Paul claims that while he worries about Micah, he doesn't seem to care about her closest friend. Micah considers that to be the worst attitude to have. She goes on to state that if Paul does not care about Shelby, it will be a "major issue." Paul said he will consider her remarks, but not take "her little comments personally."
Micah informs her closest friends that she is in love with Paul after Paul excuses himself from the group, which hurts Shelby. Micayla, on the other hand, claims she likes him. Shelby states in her interview that she is not a hater but the most protective person of Micah, so she will always be skeptical. Later, she tells Micah, "You're meant to have the best wedding of your life, but this isn't it. This isn't it," Micah says, putting her hand over her mouth.
Micah's mom find the whole experiment of 'Love Is Blind' odd
Micah tells her folks about her proposal while introducing Paul for the first time. Her folks were clearly taken aback by the whole thing. While they appeared to be accepting of their daughter's choice, they were also skeptical. Micah's mother, Patrisha, found the whole situation "odd," but says they are embracing it because they believe in their daughter's decision. Her biggest worry is that Micah might get her heartbroken in the process.
All eight episodes of 'Love Is Blind' Season 4 are streaming now on Netflix.
