Did girl group 2NE1 get Lizzo into K-pop? Fans flex 'taste'

Lizzo also revealed that she chats with BTS' J-hope and that he's a great texter

K-pop fans have pretty much adopted Lizzo as they love her genuine appreciation for the genre and her friendship with BTS. ARMYs were ecstatic when we got our first Lizzo and BTS in-person interaction at a Harry Styles concert of all places. And a week later she went to BTS’ own concert in LA. She had shared that her sister was an ARMY and she was the one who got Lizzo into BTS. She even knows all of the K-pop lingoes as she revealed that Jimin was her bias. If that’s not enough, she also knows inside jokes and moments as she wore a 'Vmin' top while covering ‘Butter’ at BBC. But this is not her first rodeo in K-pop.

To promote her latest release, Lizzo came on Audacy on April 28, to chat about her upcoming projects, tours, her Coachella cameo with Harry Styles, BTS, and even 2NE1. She shared that she had J-hope’s number and that they were on a regular texting basis. Lizzo said that he was a great texter and the BTS star never leaves anyone on "read". She added that the global K-pop group had good energy which is why she liked them. Lizzo even showed her excitement about the possibility of a collaboration with BTS in the future.

Lizzo shares she was a fan of 2NE1

It feels like Lizzo is truly one of us from her iconic photograph with Robert Pattinson during his ‘Twilight’ era making the rounds now to her being a second-gen K-pop fan. When asked how she felt about K-pop, Lizzo shared, “It’s about damn time. I was a fan of like 2NE1 though, back in the day. So, like it’s cool to see how global K-pop has become.” 2NE1 was a huge K-pop girl group in the 2010s before they disbanded. They were one of the pioneers of the Hallyu Wave in the West and fans have not forgotten them as their surprise reunion at Coachella was the highlight of weekend 1. We also had Minzy of 2NE1 resharing the clip and saying that she was also a fan of Lizzo.
