'Legacies' Season 2 Episode 12: Sebastian betrays Lizzie's trust but did he turn her into a Heretic?
Lizzie Saltzman's romantic reunion with Sebastian on this week's episode of 'Legacies' has turned into a nightmare. It would be quite difficult for a narrative to hold its own in an episode where Kai Parker returns, but Sebastian and Lizzie's probably tragic meeting does quite well.
With her father, Alaric Saltzman, and sister, Josie Saltzman, busy dealing with Kai and the former Salvatore School students, Sebastian and Lizzie run away and have a good time. Sebastian has one thing on his mind — convince Lizzie to stay behind with him.
Sebastian tells her that he finds the modern world too noisy and that he prefers the silence of the prison world. He takes her around to a beautiful mansion outside Mystic Falls in the prison world. He gives her a beautiful dress and they dance the day away, ending the night with wine.
When Sebastian tells her he wants to stay, she tells him that she will age whereas he will not. But Sebastian has a solution — he can turn her into a vampire. Lizzie tells him that though she has thought about turning so that she and her sister can avoid the Merge — and also so she can have flawless skin — Lizzie admits she is not ready to make that decision yet.
She tells him that if she turns, she would not be able to have children or grow old with someone, and though she does not know whether she wants those things, she cannot make a decision until she truly knows.
Unfortunately, Sebastian has already made the decision for her. He spikes her glass of wine with blood and says that he did so to keep her safe. In an outburst where he tells her that he loves her and cannot lose her, Sebastian also accidentally calls her Cassandra — the name of his witch lover from the past.
Lizzie then kisses him, but she does so to siphon power from Sebastian and magically desiccate him. In panic, she loads him into a police car and speeds off back to Mystic Falls.
In the third cliffhanger in this week's episode, Lizzie loses consciousness just as Josie breaks the sand clock. The car crashes and the episode ends, leaving the viewers wondering if Lizzie is dead — an answer we will only get in the next episode.
Should Lizzie die, she will become a Heretic. Although that may not be a bad thing, considering dark Josie is now unleashed. Though it could be unsavory to become a Heretic — a witch/vampire hybrid that can siphon magic from themself — it could be the key to Lizzie's survival.
