The original 'Law & Order' series is returning for another season. Read on to know all the actors who are making a return to the iconic drama
The original ‘Law & Order’ made a grand comeback in 2021 and reintroduced viewers to the team that gave them so many great memories. The series began in 1990 and ended after the 20th season in May 2010. At this time, it was NBC's longest-running crime drama and was just a season away from being the longest-running primetime scripted drama. However, the show was abruptly canceled and for more than 11 years, we didn’t see the OG team on our screens.
In 2021, it was announced that the NBC series will be making a return on the network for the much-awaited 21st season. It was also announced that some of the members of the original cast will be returning to reprise their roles alongside some new cast members. We saw Jeffrey Donovan cast as a series regular and Anthony Anderson reprising the role of Kevin Bernard.
With Season 22 of ‘Law & Order’ already announced, there are some changes to the cast as Anderson won’t be returning for the upcoming edition. So, who takes his position, and who is returning for the newest seasons? Let’s take a look.
Sam Waterston as DA Jack McKoy
With his appearance in Season 22, Sam Waterston has become the longest-running cast member of the series. He is one of the greatest actors of this generation and has given several award-worthy performances. When it comes to his movies and TV credits, Waterston has made appearances in projects such as ‘The Great Gatsby’, ‘Warning Sign’, ‘Mindwalk’, ‘Miss Sloane’, ‘Lincoln’, ‘Miracle at Midnight’, ‘Prohibition’ and ‘The Newsroom’.
Jeffrey Donovan as Senior Detective Frank Cosgrove
Donovan started acting at a very young age and participated in a summer program that helped him start his acting career. He made his acting debut in 1995, both in television and films, and went on to appear as a guest star in shows like ‘CSI: Miami’, ‘Spin City’, ‘Monk’, ‘Millennium’, ‘Witchblade’, ‘The Pretender’, and ‘Burn Notice’, for which he was nominated for a Teen Choice Awards.
Over the years, he has been featured in high-end projects such as ‘J Edgar’, ‘Sicario’, ‘Extinction’, ‘Lucy in the Sky’, ‘Fargo’, and ‘Crossing Jordan’.
Hugh Dancy as ADA Nolan Price
The British actor rose to prominence for his role as the titular character in the television film adaptation of ‘David Copperfield’ and as well as for his roles in feature films like ‘Black Hawk Down’ and ‘Ella Enchanted'. In 2005, we saw him starring as Earl of Essex in ‘Elisabeth I’. The actor received a lot of praise for his acting skills and garnered his first-ever Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie.
In 2013, he was cast as Will Graham in the hit series ‘Hannibal’ and featured in 39 episodes. The series took his popularity to a whole new level and helped him in garnering Best Actor in a Drama Series at the Critics’ Choice TV Awards.
He was recently seen as Jack Barber in ‘Downtown Abbey: A New Era’.
Odelya Halevi as ADA Samantha Maroun
The Israeli-born actress has been a part of the entertainment industry since 2008 and made her debut with TV shows such as ‘New Girl’ and ‘Starship Orion’ in 2014. In 2021, she was seen playing a supporting role in the series ‘Good Trouble’ and garnered a lot of praise. But, without any doubt, her role in ‘Law & Order’ is undoubtedly the biggest of her career so far and she has managed to nab all the attention with her acting skills.
Halevi will be seen portraying Shiruta in the upcoming DCEU movie ‘Black Adam’ along with Dwayne Johnson and Pierce Brosnan.
Mehcad Brooks as Junior Detective Jalen Shaw
Brooks is the newest cast member of ‘Law & Order’ and will be taking Anthony Anderson’s place this time around. Brooks started his career as a model and was a Calvin Klein underwear model.
