SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: Award shows are that one-of-a-kind year-end spectacle that is met with appreciation and criticism at the same. With so many Korean Entertainment Award shows announcing their broadcast off-lately, fans of K-dramas had been particularly looking out for the appreciation of controversial actors like Blackpink's Kim Jisoo for her acting debut with the Disney+ K-drama, ‘Snowdrop’ and Kim Seon-ho’s outstanding performance in the 2021 tvN show, ‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’ (aka Hometown Cha Cha Cha). Most award shows including the 2022 APAN Awards were critiqued for snubbing the two acts from being nominated due to their controversies.

But, fans are now emotional after Kim Seon-ho's big win at the 2022 Seoul International Drama Awards (Seoul Drama Awards). The 2022 SDA took place as an in-person event on September 22 and the award show was held in Seoul’s KBS Hall. The 17th annual Seoul International Drama Awards saw performances from K-pop groups like The Boyz and STAYC as well and felicitated various South Korean, Asian, and International talents for their exceptional performances over the past year. However, fans of actor Kim Seon-ho were particularly emotional because of the journey that the actor had over the past year after his controversial hiatus.

Kim Seon-ho wins the ‘Outstanding Korean Actor’ title at the 2022 SDA

Among other winners at the show, fans were thrilled to see Blackpink’s Jisoo bag her first win for the controversial K-drama, ‘Snowdrop’ that was met with mass criticism due to the political themes it portrayed. The show also awarded Kim Seon-ho with the ‘Outstanding Korean Actor’ title for his portrayal of Hong Du-sik in the healing tvN drama, ‘Hometown Cha Cha Cha’ that aired in 2021. Kim Seon-ho had a very promising year in 2021 after he bagged his first major lead role opposite Shin Min-ah but all his hard work was washed away when his former girlfriend exposed him over a controversy.

The controversy led Kim Seon-ho to go on a hiatus as he apologized for causing chaos despite not being in the wrong. Immediately after that, many brands and projects dropped the actor. One such project that edited Kim Seon-ho out was the KBS variety show, ‘2 Days, 1 Night’ that the actor was a part of for many years. With Seon-ho winning an award show at an event broadcast by the network - KBS that edited him out in the first place, his fans share how proud they are of the actor. Since Seon-ho was busy with a schedule, the act was not able to make it to the event. Kim Seon-ho thanked his fans via VCR for their relentless faith in him and dedicated his award to the entire cast and crew of ‘Hometown Cha Cha Cha’ for their hard work.

One more fan said, "I cannot stop listening to his speech. He dedicated his winning to all staff, actors, pd, writer of Hometown Cha Cha Cha. I love you as deep as Lake Baikal SeonHoyaa." One fan said, "To see his name on center stage in a KBS tv is very satisfying. Proud of you #KimSeonHo HALLYU BEST ACTOR KIM SEONHO." Another fan said, "KBS, finally had to SHOUT OUT his name, yes he is KIM SEON HO!!! HALLYU BEST ACTOR KIM SEONHO."
