Sharing the same opinion a fan said, "Watching Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 in theaters instead which I’m happy to say is much better than I expected from the critical reaction (which I suspect was for ideological reasons)."

A fan commented on X, "Had my doubts but... wow. "Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1" is breathtaking. Both old-fashioned and very new, Kevin Costner's take on the Western is almost an anthology of all Western films. It's epic but understated, knows what it is and does not apologize."

A fan raved about the movie and said, "Kevin Costner’s HORIZON: AN AMERICAN SAGA - CHAPTER 1 is an unabashedly old-fashioned & sincere Western. While messy at times, it’s audacious, grand storytelling rarely seen anymore. Costner’s steadfast passion for his material & the genre is a beautiful thing to behold."

Another added, "@modernwestHorizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 is phenomenal! The casting, acting, his directing and cinematography is extraordinary! A must see film this summer!"

Excited about the other parts, another fan added, "Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 the best hang out movie since Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. can’t wait for Chapter 2 (and 3 and 4). Costner. Is. Cooking."

The fans also said that the film's content would be better suited for television.

Sharing their opinion on the same a fan said, “Horizon: An American Saga-Chapter 1” is a good film with some gorgeous filmmaking and excellent performances. But it does feel like a glorified pilot episode for a tv show. We have 3 story arcs that have 3 beginnings, with no middle or end. Overall, I give this film a 7.5/10.

Another added, "HORIZON 1 is far from perfect - on 1st viewing many scenes drag on, several character relationships go through major shifts offscreen, editing is imperfect & I get why it was shot digitally but this really should be on 35mm - but it's charming & very vibeable."

A fan expressed their enthusiasm for the movie by stating, “Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1” was a awesome movie, I went to see it in the theater Today, if you like the movies “Dances With Wolves” or “Wyatt Earp” you’ll love Kevin Costner’s new movie, I can’t until chapter 2 comes out."

A moviegoer joked about the movie and said, "Sat through all 3 hrs 2 minutes of Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1. Kudos to the poor elderly lady who moaned “oh god!” when the “Chapter 1” title card came up."
