Kelli Giddish returns as Rollins for 'Law & Order: SVU' Season 24 finale after mysterious exit
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: We saw Kelli Giddish leave her gun and badge in 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' but the actress is coming back to the show to end the Season 24 finale. But, wait, she isn't coming alone. The actress will come back to Dick Wolf's police procedural show with a surprise. Detective Rollins will come back to the station, pregnant.
The actress had expressed her feelings about leaving the show in the previous season via her official Instagram account and stated, "I wanted to address the chatter I’ve seen online and let everyone know that this will, indeed, be my last season on 'Law & Order: SVU'. Playing Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life." Giddish continued with, "I’ve been so fortunate to be a part of the ‘Law & Order’ family for the last 12 years." Although by reading the Instagram post, it might seem that the decision of leaving the show was purely hers, it was later revealed that she was forced out.

Detective Amanda Rollins is back
Giddish will be seen reprising the role of Amanda Rollins and come to end Season 24 with a bang! There's a major development in the show though, when audiences see her again, she'll be pregnant. Fans might recollect that at the start of Season 23 of the show, Rollins was shot and left the scene. Then the entire show she was seen recovering from the wound and the trauma she developed from it. After a while, Rollins left the force and went on to teach at Fordham University. Giddish's last episode as her character Rollins was in the season finale, which saw her marry her longtime love interest Assistant DA Dominic Carisi (Peter Scanavino).
There was always a possibility of Rollins returning to the force
While leaving the show Kelli Giddish made sure she left the door open for future possibilities for her character's return to the show. She had shared some perspective about it and said, "She's still in New York," Giddish told Entertainment Weekly. "I loved working with everybody that was ever involved with SVU and I know they feel the same about me, so if it works in a storyline or whatever, I don't think the audience would ever hate to see that."
