K-pop at Beijing Winter Olympics: IVE and NCT’s Winwin participate in 2022 games
We first had K-pop fans excited for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics that was held in mid-2021 as K-pop acts like Ateez, ONF, BTS and Blackpink were acknowledged and their music played in the games’ official setlist. Previously, we also had the likes of EXO and CL performing at the Winter Olympics in 2018. And now for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, the games have roped in monster rookies IVE and idol actor Winwin from NCT and WayV.
It was first reported on January 24 that Winwin was one of the Chinese celebrities that would be promoting the opening of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Along with four other personalities, the NCT star will be one of the torchbearers. In a virtual event due to the ongoing pandemic, Winwin and the rest of the torchbearers will support the games as escort runners for the online torch relay.
