Junhoe debuts as film actor after fans slam YG for not allowing iKON to go solo
It looks like Junhoe aka Ju-ne is finally branching out. And not only will he be debuting as an actor, but his first acting gig is in a Korean film. The iKON member had previously been in the news for sharing his frustrations over his label YG Entertainment not allowing them to have solo opportunities. To date, only Bobby has debuted as a solo artist. Other members have shown an interest in other fields like Chanwoo and Junhoe who had spoken about how he always wanted to do a musical.
The members have gotten more vocal about wanting solo activities with even Donghyuk and Jinhwan talking about it. This irked fans as iKON’s frustration were evident even on their reality show ‘One Summer Night’. iKONICs (iKON’s fandom) ended up trending on social media in hopes that YG would acknowledge the situation and give the boys more solo opportunities. Well, it looks like something is in the works because the boy group is finally getting more solo activities since their debut in 2015. On October 18, YG confirmed that Junhoe has indeed been cast in a film with Jo Byeong-gyu.

iKON’s maknae line to debut as film actors
In fact, just last month, it was reported that the maknae (youngest) of the group, Chanwoo had landed his first main role in the horror romantic project ‘Chilling Roommate’. He is set to star opposite former GFRIEND’s leader Sowon aka Sojung. The project will be released in a K-drama format, as well as a film. And now we have the second youngest member, Junhoe to debut as a film actor in ‘Even If I Die, One More Time’.
Junhoe in ‘Even If I Die, One More Time’
All of iKON had done a cameo as themselves in YG’s sitcom ‘YG Future Strategy Office’. But that had been it for Junhoe. He is set to play the best friend of the main character in ‘Even If I Die, One More Time’. The film tells the story of a second chance that the 40-year old Jeon Woo-seok, a stuntman gets as he has an accident and travels back in time to his school days. Played by Jo Byeong-gyu of ‘The Uncanny Encounter’ fame, he is friends with Junhoe’s character Bong-gyun. Bong-gyun is described as a playboy with a charming personality but is extremely loyal to his friends. ‘Even If I Die, One More Time’ is said to begin filming in October and will premiere sometime in 2022.
'Sexy move'
Fans have been trending Junhoe as they are excited about his film debut. One fan tweeted, “Your next second lead syndrome, koo junhoe.” Another iKONIC added, “Damn konicland will be super busy for this year end because our konys boys are fully booked, sexy move!” One fan shared, “iKON ACTOR LINE SO PRETTY.” Another posted, “koo junhoe the playboy student jung chanwoo the chaebol ghost.”
