Jisoo almost missed Coachella? Blackpink star reveals 2019 injury
With Blackpink being one of the major K-pop groups in the world at the moment, it was no surprise when they were invited to the popular American music festival Coachella. Blackpink became the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella in 2019, with fans even getting a special stage from Jennie for her solo debut track ‘SOLO’. However, while making history, member Jisoo was almost not a part of it.
Blackpink’s impact is undeniable as they became the third girl group in history to grace the cover of Rolling Stone magazine's June 2022 edition. It also happened to be their first group shoot in a year with them preparing for their much-awaited comeback and world tour this summer. Well, the girls got candid with Rolling Stone, especially Jisoo who opened up as to why her solo debut was delayed, the challenges of being in the spotlight and how she almost missed the legendary stage of Coachella in 2019.

Jisoo shares she was hurt during Coachella
In the interview with Rolling Stone, Jisoo revealed that she actually had an injury while performing at Coachella. Thanks to her professionalism, fans and viewers did not have a clue as she was one of the stars on the stage going viral for being the ‘red-haired girl’ at Coachella. But the Blackpink star said, “When we were performing at Coachella [in 2019], my back hurt so badly. Every night I was getting painkillers.” Jisoo explained that she had the chance to sit and perform on the side of the stage but her responsibility to the group and her fans did not allow her.
She told Rolling Stone, “I wanted to perform sitting down. But my pride wouldn’t allow myself to sit. And it wasn’t because ‘I love this stage so much’; stronger was my sense of responsibility and duty.” Jisoo added, “I can compromise with my reality because I’m part of Blackpink, and I’m not alone. I have the girls in the same boat, and the fans. And that gives me the power and a sense of responsibility."
'Forever grateful'
Fans were touched as they made tweets like, “And this is why i will forever be grateful to coachella Jisoo. We dont appreciate her enough for this. I cant even imagine her will power and stamina for this. She was mad serious about the performance!!” Another Blink commented, “i just want to hug her and say she did an amazing job at coachella.” One fan assured her, “Her dedication and strength!!!! ngl, i wouldnt mind seeing you perform while sitting down as long as u have fun!” Another posted, “She’s so honest and such a pro. She ate up Coachella and we didn’t know she was in such pain.”
