Ever since YG had shared that all Blackpink members would be going solo, Blinks (their fans) have been eagerly waiting for Jisoo’s time to shine. While Jennie had debuted in 2018, the next two members released their solo albums three years later. Well, after Rosé and Lisa’s record-breaking solos in 2021, Blinks wondered when Jisoo would be making her solo debut. She has also shown an interest in acting as YG signed her on as an actress and she got her first lead role in K-drama 'Snowdrop'.

Following Lisa’s solo debut in September, there have been constant reports that Jisoo would be dropping her solo album in the next couple of months. Since then, the alleged date keeps getting postponed to the point that frustrated Blinks have taken to trending ‘Where is Jisoo solo’ now and again to get YG to give them concrete information. Jisoo had also assured fans that she would possibly be going solo in 2022. But following the spoilers that Blackpink and Jennie’s comeback is scheduled next, Jisoo’s fans wondered if she would even get to make her solo debut.

Jisoo talks about her solo debut

Well, following Blackpink’s photoshoot with Rolling Stone and Jisoo’s individual interview, it seems that the delay is due to her own decision. The idol actress shared that she was stressed out because she did not know what kind of music to work on for her solo debut. Jisoo said, “I’m not sure how much I want to go solo yet. The music I listen to, the music I can do, and the music I want to do - what should I choose?” The conflict of music genres was evident as the Blackpink member shared that her personal music preference was quite unexpected. Jisoo explained, “I love songs with lots of instruments. I love different bands and rock music. What do people want from me? There’s a chaos of conflicting questions.”

Jisoo also added that she was feeling pressurised since she did not want to be alone in the spotlight, “I love to perform, but I don’t always enjoy being part of the spotlight. I think it’s different for the other members: They love to receive the spotlight, feeling energized by the people who come to see us, and then getting a bit depressed when the stage is over and silence arrives. I’m a little different. When I’m onstage, I think about not making mistakes. Performing sometimes feels more like a test than something genuinely fun.”

‘She can decide whatever path she likes’

Fans sent supportive messages as they made tweets like, “Jisoo loves rock and so do soyaas... btw i'm sure we'll love any genre or music from her cause she's versatile. i hope she'll do something she loves.”  Another Blink commented, “I'm not sure how much I want to go solo yet... well then.. we'll all wait until your ready.” One posted, “I Hope sooyas, stop asking for Jisoo’s solo. Its clear that she’s undecided. Wer just putting pressure on things she still doesn’t want to do. Lets hope that, she can decide whatever path she likes to do in the future.”

Another added, “What i got from that interview is jisoo feels pressured about her solo  when her music taste is so different from what yg imposes on her and she’ll definitely go into acting after blackpink, for her own sake. i support her.” Another Blink shared, “Because she wants her solo album to be perfect 🎸 She's a perfectionist 💯🙌🥰 go girl 😚 i am here all the way for you JISOO.” One fan clarified, “Y’all should not make a decision for jisoo like saying “she prolly prefer acting” “she doesn’t want to perform” NO. she’s just a perfectionist. she’s talking about how she should deliver perfectly, the pressure to perform perfectly. but she clearly wants what she’s doing.”
