'The Strangers: Chapter 1' is not a remake; instead, it continues the narrative of 'The Strangers' film series.

The original movie 'The Strangers' was released on May 30, 2008, while 'The Strangers: Prey at Night' was released on March 9, 2018.

'The Strangers: Chapter 1' follows a premise similar to the original film, exploring the horrifying scenario of random individuals being targeted by three masked strangers known as the Man in the Mask, Dollface, and Pin-Up Girl. It serves as a prequel, delving into the backstory of these characters and how their paths crossed with their unsuspecting victims.

The original films were highly successful at the box office upon their respective releases in 2008 and 2018.

During an interview with Comicbook.com, director of 'The Strangers: Chapter 1', Renny Harlin, clarified that the upcoming trilogy - 'The Strangers: Chapter 1, 2, 3' - would not serve as a direct remake or reboot of the original films.

He mentioned that the original films would be referenced with Easter eggs throughout the new trilogy.

The film will delve deeper into the origin story of the three masked strangers and address unanswered questions from the original 'The Strangers' film series.
