'Euphoria' Season 3 gets disappointing update as Zendaya teases 'closure' ahead of premiere
For a show that has kept fans guessing for years, ‘Euphoria’ might finally be nearing its final chapter. And this time, the hint didn’t come from online chatter or insider whispers, but directly from the person at the heart of it all. Zendaya, who has been the face of the HBO drama since its premiere, has now spoken out in a way that feels rather final. During a recent appearance on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, Zendaya was asked the question fans have been tossing around for ages: Is Season 3 the last chapter? She didn’t dance around it or throw in vague hints. Instead, she said, “I think so, yeah.” Barrymore followed up, saying, “I never want to ask questions like that, because it’s not my business, and yet, is this to be enjoyed knowing [it will end]?” Zendaya, without changing course, replied, “Yes, I think so.”
The host then stated, “I almost need to know the mindframe [before watching],” to which Zendaya responded, “That closure is coming.” Still, it’s worth noting that HBO hasn’t officially said anything about the series wrapping up. There’s currently no formal announcement or press release confirming that the upcoming season will be the final one. However, for those who have been following the show closely, this possibility has been hanging in the air for quite some time.
The gap between the second and third seasons stretched out to nearly four years, and in that period, the cast didn’t just stay busy; they blew up. Stars like Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Colman Domingo have become fixtures across film sets and red carpets. So, bringing everyone back together again for more seasons would definitely not be a walk in the park. Season 3 itself is set to take a different route compared to what came before. The story is moving past lockers and classrooms, jumping ahead to show the fan-favorite characters as adults. According to the official description, the new season will see “a group of childhood friends wrestle with the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption and the problem of evil.”
Behind the camera, Sam Levinson is back steering the ship, continuing his role as writer, director, and executive producer. He’s joined by a long list of collaborators, including Ashley Levinson, Sara E. White, Kevin Turen, Ravi Nandan, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, and several others. Moreover, the new season is scheduled to premiere on April 12 on HBO and HBO Max, finally ending the long wait.
