Blackpink is probably one of the biggest K-pop groups at the moment. They are million-sellers, chart sweepers and have made history in the music industry several times. This is why new fans are often surprised when it is revealed that in their five-year career, they only have one comeback a year. Additionally, they have only one K-pop album, three single albums, and two mini-albums. And their last comeback was a year and a half ago in 2020.

And while fans thought the girls were focusing on their solo careers, there hasn’t been much activity there either. Blinks (Blackpink’s fandom) slammed YG for the poor promotion of Lisa’s solo debut and Jisoo’s lead role debut with the K-drama ‘Snowdrop’ while Jennie and Rosé have not been visible in the second half of 2021 at all. YG’s stocks fell twice in the last six months as Blinks clamored to be heard to the extent that they claimed they would boycott Blackpink’s merch till YG announces their comeback.

When will Blackpink make a comeback?

Whether their strategy worked or not, we finally have new information about Blackpink’s upcoming projects. According to a leaked schedule of YG, Blackpink is planning an album and a possible world tour in the first half of 2022. On January 9, Jisoo also hinted that the girls would be coming back soon. On January 25, all four girls got together and went Live to assure fans that they were working on something new.

Blackpink has finally started having group activities as they did virtual meet and greets with fans all over the world. During the online fan sign on January 25, a Blink asked Jennie about their comeback. The K-pop idol promised that while she can’t say much they would be coming back soon, “I can’t give any comeback spoilers and I can’t tell you when, and I know I’ve been saying this all day, but we are working really really hard so please look forward to it Blinks!” She also said that maybe she would be having a solo comeback after the group’s release.

Jisoo confirms solo debut

As for Jisoo, she is the only Blackpink member that hasn’t had her solo debut but that will change too. Another fan asked her during the fan sign, if they could expect her solo debut in 2022. To it, Jisoo confidently replied "oh of course". The Blink pushed their luck as they asked the vocalist if she would also rap for her solo debut release; to this Jisoo laughed, “Rap? I’ll rap during the encore [concert].”

'It's really coming'

Excited fans made tweets like, “About time.” Another was excited for Jennie’s solo comeback, “JENNIE COMEBACK AFTER BLACKPINK’S OMGGGG.” One Blink wondered, “Sooooo if bp & jennie solo cb in summer then tour in fall maybe? /pathetically hopes/.” Another joked, “Yg really said new year, new strategy.” One excited fan said, “Jisoo solo this year and she will shine the brightest.” Another posted, “Body roll queen coming back to reclaim her throne again. ahh, so exciting for jisoo solo.”
