LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix's latest excursion into science fiction titled, ‘3 Body Problem’ is based on the book trilogy authored by Liu Cixin titled 'The Three-Body Problem.'

The eight-part series, which stars Benedict Wong, Jess Hong, Jovan Adepo, and Eiza Gonzalez, is scheduled to premiere on streaming platforms on March 21.

What are the parallels between the novel and the series '3 Body Problem?'

First published in 2008, the trilogy's first book features an imaginative concept that imagines a fictionalised past, present, and future.

The plot follows the interaction of a human civilization with an alien civilization that inhabits three sun-like stars.

The movie's plot will likewise be based on the books' premise, which describes an extraterrestrial invasion that is about to endanger Earth.

In order to preserve Earth from this potential threat, a team of scientists teams up with a detective to solve the biggest mystery.

What will be the difference between the books and '3 Body Problem?'

The Liu Cixin-written book is heavily based on Chinese cultures and heritage, which can make it less friendly to a Western audience.

Aiming to make it more palatable to a Western audience, the creators will take artistic liberty and tailor it to a border audience while adding Hollywood traits.

Who are the creators of the '3 Body Problem?'

The series was created by Alexander Woo, David Benioff, and D.B. Weiss.

The dynamic duo of Benioff and Weiss is best known for their work on the 'Game of Thrones' series.

The creative partnership came under fire from the public for the underwhelming finale of the beloved show, although this could be attributable to the fact that their source material for the show was incomplete.

Nonetheless, the Netflix series can offer creators some respite because the source material has already been finished, allowing them complete freedom to delve deeply into the characters and explore the intricacies of the plot.

'3 Body Problem' will start streaming on Netflix on March 21.
