'House of the Dragon' opened to positive reviews from fans. HBO's much-awaited prequel to 'Game of Thrones' was filled with enough throwbacks and references to the hit show. Titled 'The Heirs of the Dragon', the first chapter focuses on the death of Aemma Arryn (Sian Brooke), the consort and the first wife of King Viserys Targaryen, and the battle for the throne that ensues following the death of the newborn.

Earlier, the show fell short of the critics' ratings that 'GoT' Season 1 garnered on Rotten Tomatoes. It earned a healthy 85 per cent critic rating but fell short of 'GoT's 89 per cent. However, fans praised the storyline and the gripping suspense factor that the period fantasy drama dished out in the opener.
