'House of the Dragon' Episode 1: 'Really praying for some incest sex' say fans after prequel premiere

While there was enough blood splattered on screen, the lack of sex in Episode 1 had fans sharing their two cents, and what they wanted to see

'House of the Dragon' surely had more violence and blood splattering on screens, but the scanty sex, a stark contrast from 'Game of Thrones,' had fans somewhat disappointed. Prior to the prequel's release, showrunners Ryan Condal & Miguel Sapochnik said that they were focused on telling a story rather than focusing on excessive sex and that has sparked some debate as well.

Actor Matt Smith was involved in one of the sex scenes. His character, Prince Daemon Targaryen, the presumed heir to the Targaryens' Iron Throne is shown to have sex and remains rather dissatisfied with the whole jazz. In an interview with Rolling Stones UK, the actor did question some of the decisions. "You do find yourself asking, 'Do we need another sex scene?'" Smith said. "And they're like, 'Yeah, we do.' I guess you have to ask yourself, 'What are you doing? Are you representing the books, or are you diluting the books to represent the time?'"

"It’s not GOT if there’s no prostitute sex scene #hotd<" a fan commented on Smith's sex scene. "First sex scene we keeping count? They said there’s more in this one lol #hotd," one of the tweets read. Some expressed what they wanted to see. "I would love to get my hands on some Targeryan game worn merch! Such beautiful people. Really praying for 2 scenes of incest sex that would be so tight #HouseoftheDragon #HouseOfTheDragonHBO #hotd #HBOMax."

One segment felt it made sense for the removal of unnecessary sex. "Great because I'm trying to see some actual content. One of the viewers wasn't so lucky. "#HouseOfTheDragonHBO #HOTD are we serious with the sex scene? I’m watching with my MOTHER! ow I have to explain to her what is happening with the two characters!" a comment said. "I hate to say it, but that wasn't the most weird or awkward sex scene in either #GOT show. #HOTD," another fan tweeted.
