Yellowstone’ is one of the few TV shows that have managed to capture everyone’s imagination in a pretty wild way. The Paramount show always had the potential of being turned into a more fully-fleshed out universe with stories from different eras. For example, ‘Yellowstone’ showed a story from the modern perspective while ‘1883’, a prequel to ‘Yellowstone’, told a story set in a very different era.

Recently, Paramount revealed that it is set to expand the universe created by Taylor Sheridan with a new show that will explore a different time period. Initially, the production company announced that the new series will be titled ‘1932’. However, it seems Paramount has changed its mind, and now, the show will be set nine years earlier.

Paramount’s streaming service Paramount+ revealed on Monday, June 20, that the upcoming show will now be called ‘1923’, and will revolve around the time when World War I ended and the era of Prohibition began. According to the streaming service, both of the aforementioned aspects of history will be “woven into the story”. It has already been announced that veterans Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren will be starring in lead roles in the upcoming series. This will be the first time since 1986 that the pair will be sharing the screen together. Back in 1986, Ford and Mirren were seen together in 'The Mosquito Coast', playing the roles of Allie Fox and Margot Fox.

As far as the series is concerned, the series takes place 40 years after the Paramount+ prequel series ‘1883’, which starred Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott in pivotal roles. In upcoming series, Mirren and Ford will be introducing the new generation of Duttons. The series will see them struggling through a “historic drought, lawlessness, and prohibition”. That’s not all. They would also battle the dangerous “cloud of Montana’s great Depression, which preceded the nation by almost a decade.”

‘1923’ will be premiering exclusively on Paramount+ in December 2022 and is created by Taylor Sheridan. This is one of the shows that Sheridan is creating under the new contract that he just signed with Paramount. Apart from ‘1923’ and ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5, the creator is also working on the second season of ‘Mayor of Kingstown’, starring Jeremy Renner in the lead role. Meanwhile, a new series titled ‘Tulsa King’, will see Sylvester Stallone playing the lead role in a TV series for the first time in his career. His role is that of an aging mobster, recently released from prison.

On the other hand, it was recently announced that ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 will be divided into two parts and feature 7 episodes in each part. The first half will be premiering this summer while the second half will make its way to Paramount later this year.
