Western dramas have always been quite intriguing and they have a separate fan base. One show that has managed to capture everyone’s imagination is none other than ‘Yellowstone’. Since 2018, the Paramount series has been responsible for giving a lot of compelling storylines and that’s one of the reasons why it has been one of the most-watched shows on television. The finale of Season 4 shattered viewing records as more than 11 million viewers tuned in to watch the last episode of the fourth edition.

The finale of Season 4 was filled with love, death, and goodbyes. Jamie made everyone realize that he’s a Dutton first and the most important thing we saw was how John Dutton (Kevin Costner) cared about Jamie (Wes Bentley). He didn’t want to lose Jamie and asked Beth (Kelly Reilly) if he lost Jamie forever. But it seems, the feud between Jamie and the Duttons far from over. That makes Season 5 more interesting than ever and maybe that’s the reason Paramount has thought of making it grander than ever.

'Yellowstone' Season 4 finale SHATTERS records to become most-watched show on TV since 2017

If reports are to be believed, then the fifth edition of the Paramount series will be divided into two parts and will feature 14 episodes. According to a report in Wall Street Journal, the upcoming season will have 7 episodes in the first half that will be airing this summer and the next set of episodes will be making their way to the small screens later this year.

The report also suggests that the super-sized season will be used to introduce two new series from Taylor Sheridan. This means that the premiere of ‘Yellowstone’ will serve as a launching pad for Sheridan’s upcoming show ‘Tulsa King’, a series that takes place outside the ‘Yellowstone’ universe. On the other hand, a series titled ‘1932’ has also been announced and the makers are planning to launch it along with the second part of ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5.

For the uninitiated, ‘Tulsa King’ will see Sylvester Stallone playing a lead character in a TV series for the first time in his career. He will be playing an aging mobster who has been recently released from prison. Meanwhile, ‘1932’ will be all about John Dutton Sr.

With Season 4 breaking viewership records, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Paramount has decided to treat viewers with a super-sized edition. Recently, we saw how ‘Stranger Things’ did something similar with Season 4 and divided it into two parts. The first part of Season 4 had seven super-sized episodes while the second part of ‘Stranger Things’ would be making its way to the streaming platform on July 1.

It will be interesting to see if Paramount and Taylor Sheridan decide to increase the duration of the episodes as well.

Sheridan recently inked a new deal with Paramount and we got to know that the creator of ‘Yellowstone’ has been offered $200 million for his services. It is worth mentioning that apart from the aforementioned shows, “Mayor of Kingstown”, has also been renewed for Season 2. In December 2021, it was reported that the production on the second season has already started and Paramount announced the renewal on February 1, 2022.

If you are a fan of Taylor Sheridan and the universe he has created, you are in for a treat, especially if you are a ‘Yellowstone’ fan because you’ll get to see more episodes than usual and it might offer more action than all previous editions.
