While K-pop has more or less become an international phenomenon, there are still those who are prejudiced. From making homophobic and racist remarks about K-pop idols and their fans to belittling all K-pop fans as ‘crazy 15-year-old girls’, it is still difficult to be accepted by the locals. In fact, there have been instances where fans have shared that they were cyberbullied or victims of hate crimes for being into K-pop. And now, it seems to be getting serious as an Atiny (Ateez’s fan) was allegedly drugged at a Paris concert.

Last year, BTS fans in Bangladesh created an uproar and shared on social media evidence that men would harass them if they publicized that they were an ARMY (BTS’ fan). Some Bangladeshi ARMY had even alleged that they had been assaulted on the streets and their K-pop merch had been destroyed. Well, on May 6, rumors started spreading like wildfire on Atiny Twitter that a fan had been secretly injected with something during an Ateez concert and had allegedly passed away due to a cardiac arrest.

Rumors of an Ateez fan being drugged

A French Atiny shared that their friend had been the victim of a hate crime and had passed away after being allegedly drugged at Ateez’s concert in Paris. Fans were shocked and shared it on Twitter so that other fans would be careful. It even reached K-pop Twitter and some of the locals who approached the person who had shared the story but unfortunately, the message has since been deleted. Some Atinys are wondering if the incident did indeed take place and are slamming OP (Original poster) for spreading rumors for the clout.

‘Please be safe’

Whether the incident did take place or not, K-pop fans are asking those attending concerts to be careful in case such a hate crime does indeed take place in the future. Atinys are making tweets like, “Just found a fellow atiny passed away after the Paris show after they got injected by a f**king needle. this poor soul. went out to enjoy their night and their life got taken. If anyone has needle marks or are now worried, speak up, get checked and look after yourself :(.”

Another fan posted, “Please Paris ATINY check your body for any type of needle marks! I just want you all to be safe!! Get tested if you can! This is not a joke, a lot of people had been injected with a suspicious drug and sadly an ATINY passed away! There’s so many drugs that can be purchased easily.” One user added, “If u see a needle mark on ur body after a night out please get it checked ASAP, make sure u don't leave ur drinks left unsupervised etc. Needle picking is common worldwide especially on women and is a hate crime. Please Be safe everyone My condolences to that Paris #atiny.”

However, since the post was deleted, one angry fan wrote, “It was a lie... They created a fake story without providing any proof for the sake of attention.” One was surprised that fans were just believing a message without any proof, “There's a tumor going around about an atiny d*ing after being dru*ged at the Paris concert. Nothing is confirmed, OP and a French fanbase 🤦, posted about this after ‘someone messaged them’.” Another Atiny commented, “An atiny made a post claiming their friend died from a heart attack due to being unknowingly jabbed by a syringe at the Paris show. However, the tweet has since been deleted to prevent spreading misinfo. We're asking to not bring this issue to the members via pms.”
