'Harry & Meghan' dethrones Jenna Ortega's 'Wednesday' as the most-streamed TV show
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: There is no doubt that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are two of the biggest celebrities in the world. Whether they are a part of the royal family or not, people are curious to know about what’s happening in their lives. That’s why there was a lot of excitement for the Netflix documentary series ‘Harry & Meghan’. The six-part series was all about the couple’s journey after they got hitched and the British media turned against them because of Markle’s rebellious personality. Both parts have now been released on the streaming platform and the viewership numbers have been staggering.
A few days ago it was revealed that the documentary series had the biggest opening weekend for a docuseries in Netflix’s history and now the new figures released by Samba TV indicate that the series has managed to dethrone Jenna Ortega’s blockbuster hit ‘Wednesday’ on the streaming platform.

According to the latest numbers revealed by Samba TV (via The Wrap), ‘Harry & Meghan’ came out on top as the organization revealed the most-watched movies and individual TV programs from the past week across both linear television and streaming. As per the list, the first episode of the docuseries was the most-watched episode while the second and third episodes took second and third place in the list. After that, the list was dominated by ‘Wednesday’ and the show’s seven out of eight episodes were on the list. Without any guesses, the first episode of the series was the most-watched while the seventh rounded off the top 10.
The organization also noted that the list has been made by analyzing over 3 million US households.
This is an impressive feat for ‘Harry & Meghan’ because ‘Wednesday’ has been decimating all the competition coming its way and continues to top streaming charts on Netflix and Nielsen. However, the success of ‘Harry & Meghan’ has made it clear that “any publicity is good publicity.” A lot of media outlets wrote negative reviews for the series or wrote stories that could have the show’s impact a lot less, but people are always hungry for controversial content, and ‘Harry & Meghan’ gave that.
The Netflix series just aired its six-episode run on the streaming service, but it continues to be a part of the streaming platform’s Top 10 list. According to the new figures, ‘Harry & Meghan’ continues to be the second most-watched show on Netflix and logged 97.71 million hours in its second week, which is even bigger than the opening weekend figures of 81.55 million.
It will be interesting to see if the series continues to hold strong in the upcoming weeks or if the dust settles and people opt to stay away from the series.
‘Harry & Meghan’ is premiering exclusively on Netflix.
