The Detroit Lions will be featured in HBO's hit fly-on-the-wall docu-series 'Hard Knocks' this time. The NFL franchise turned down the offer from the network in 2011, however, they are going to be the focus of 'Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Detroit Lions'. The series garnered critical acclaim for it's in-depth behind-the-scenes interviews, preseason news, and player profiles.
The Lions will be the 15th team to have appeared on 'Hard Knocks'.The Dallas Cowboys have appeared thrice, while the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals have made two appearances each. On May 23 this year, the Arizona Cardinals were announced as the next 'In Season' franchise. In a statement, Lions president and CEO Rod Wood said: "We are excited about the opportunity to showcase the City of Detroit and the amazing culture we are building at the Lions. HBO Sports and NFL Films are the best of the best, and we know they will be excellent partners in sharing our story with football fans around the world."

The much-awaited HBO docuseries is all set to premiere on August 9 at 10 pm ET culminating in the September 6 season finale.

Per HBO, the official synopsis reads, "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Detroit Lions will chronicle head coach Dan Campbell entering his second season leading the team and an intriguing mix of young emerging stars, established veterans, free agent additions, and highly regarded rookie hopefuls throughout training camp and the preseason," the show's website reads. "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Detroit Lions will be narrated by Liev Schreiber, marking his 16th season with the show."

Ahead of the premiere, Furman spoke to Fan Nation about the players who caught his attention. "It was interesting, Trinity Benson, No. 17, he had a couple of good days while I was there, and then I saw that Coach Campbell brought him up in the presser after that, so I was like, maybe I do know what I’m talking about," he explained. "I called everybody I know and was like, 'Yeah, that was just somebody I wanted to keep on my radar.' Honestly, I would say Aubrey Pleasant, coach (Aaron) Glenn, and Trinity Benson were three people who stood out to me in those two days."
