GWSN is a K-pop girl group that debuted in 2018. They have participated in a couple of K-drama OSTs, have won several Rookie of the Year awards and have had their albums enter domestic and international charts like Gaon and iTunes. Unfortunately, they are still quite underrated compared to other big fourth-gen groups like Stray Kids and aespa. Well, the latest update about GWSN by their producer Swin Lee has fans worried.

Producer Swin Lee was part of the second-gen boy group Paran. He has made several songs and title tracks for K-pop groups like GWSN, Laboum, Trendz and VAV. In fact, he had worked on every track in GWSN’s last album ‘The Other Side Of The Moon’ including the title track ‘Like It Hot’. Swin Lee has often interacted with GWSN fans and is quite friendly with them.

Swin Lee talks about GWSN’s next comeback

Unfortunately, on February 9, Swin Lee made a lengthy Instagram story. He shared that he cared about GWSN but had to let fans know that for ‘The Other Side Of The Moon’, “I’ve never been paid for anything...I say this to avoid misunderstanding. I made that whole album all by myself with no...f**ckin help.” However, the producer then added, “But dont get me wrong Im not tryna saying that is GWSN or their companys fault it is just what it is…Its not about the money its okay Ill always support them and wish good luck but if u guys keep asking me bout them’s cb? Sorry Ive got nothing to say thx.”

'This is so bad'

Fortunately, fans have not been hurt by his words and are feeling sorry that he has not been paid his due. Some GWSN fanbases tried to do a fundraiser but decided against it and are looking for other ways to help the producer. One user shared, “Damn this is so bad.” Another added, “I hope he sues like genuinely.” Another frustrated user tweeted, “How do producers keep not getting paid in kpop like it’s actually so insane.” One fan pointed out, “What is wave ent doing at this point. the most recent comeback was their best selling yet producers and staff are coming out and saying they weren’t paid? where is the money going because there were little to no promotions for tosotm and we haven’t had a cb in almost a year.”

Many also pointed out the passive aggressiveness as Swin Lee was trying to be careful and not burn any bridges in the K-pop industry while venting his frustration. One Reddit user shared, “They seem pretty pissed off, but are trying (badly) to act like they are not upset. I guess they don't want to burn any bridges in the industry?” Another tried to understand, “I guess he's saying in a way it isn't their fault because they don't have enough sales/they don't make money. So its just how it is rather than it being the fault of the company/artist.”

Users were also impressed at how GWSN’s fandom was handling the news, “Hmm.. as someone really deep in grootwt, @supportgwsn has talking about setting up a fundraiser to help pay for swin lees work. groos have had a really good rapport with swin lee and he very regularly responds to our dms and comments about the girls. we’re actually quite devastated and frustrated that he hasn’t been paid and haven’t villanized him for speaking up about this.” Fans also found parallels with Loona’s company BBC which was rumored to be bankrupt, “NOOOOO WHY IS GWSN COMPANY PULLING A BBC.”
