Grammys 2022: What did BTS' V tell Olivia Rodrigo in their viral moment?

While fans thought V did not whisper anything to Olivia, he revealed that he had indeed told her something

The 64th Grammys finally took place on April 3, 2022, and fans couldn’t help but get delighted as BTS became the talk of the town. It was the global K-pop group’s second nomination and first time performing solo and in-person which created history for South Korea as they became the first Korean act to do so. And while we had several fun moments like Lady Gaga taking pictures with V aka Kim Taehyung to Trevor Noah singing the ‘Red Light Green Light’ song popularized by ‘Squid Game’, nothing could have prepared ARMY for BTS’ performance.

BTS’ performance of ‘Butter’ was one of the highlights of Grammys 2022 as Billboard went as far as to call it the best performance of the night. Fans loved the twist that the group gave with their spy concept, channelling their inner James Bond that they went on to ask for V to make a comeback as an actor. However, it was his interaction with pop star Olivia Rodrigo that had fans and non-fans swooning. At the beginning of the performance for ‘Butter’, we see V sitting next to Rodrigo as he leans in and whispers something in her ear. He then takes a card from behind her and throws it towards the stage.

What did V tell Olivia Rodrigo?

Like Olivio Rodrigo’s shocked face, fans were shocked as they couldn’t get over the visuals on their screen and the duo’s palpable chemistry. ARMY even joked that they were jealous and instead decided to set their eyes on Ed Sheeran as if to make V jealous. And with his viral moment with Rodrigo still being talked-about days after the Grammys, the BTS star decided to tell all that actually happened between them.

On April 6, V came online to chat with fans who took the opportunity to ask him what he had whispered to Olivia Rodrigo. V replied, “I don’t even speak English, probably, ‘This is important business. You understand as a fellow professional’.” When ARMY assumed that he had spoken Korean commending Rodrigo’s professionalism, V once again surprised fans, “I didn’t speak Korean either though?..”

Fans found it funny as they wondered what language V had spoken. They also praised Olivia’s acting skills as V said, “Olivia is a hero.” As one ARMY joked that he probably didn’t say anything, V clarified that he did but he just didn’t remember the exact details as he was nervous. The BTS member said, “I did say something but during the performance I was nervous so I don’t remember. I was going to say, ‘You have to act surprised now.’” Eagle-eyed fans could tell he was nervous as V’s hand shook when he showed the card to Olivia. Many also noticed that she gave him a reassuring pat before the performance.

'You did great'

One fan tweeted, “Taehyung being so nervous with the performance that you can notice that his hand was even shaking but he really handled it professionally, the skit with Olivia is really that impressive and is going viral, you did great taetae.” Another found it funny, “‘Taehyung what did you say to olivia rodrigo’ taehyung: i dont even know english.” One fan posted, “Taehyung important businessed olivia SENDING ME.” Another joked, “Olivia rodrigo is better than me bc right when Taehyung whispers in my ear I would go off script and look at him like.”
