The 64th Grammys finally took place in Las Vegas on April 3, 2022. And among the stars gracing the award show, we had none other than the global K-pop group BTS. No stranger to the Grammys, they have been attending, presenting, performing, and being nominated since 2019. They made history by performing solo and in person for the first time at Grammys 2022. They also became the first Korean act to be nominated not once, but twice for the ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’ award in 2021 and 2022. Unfortunately, they were snubbed both times.

Fans, however, expected it as they claimed the Grammys was just using BTS for clout since their huge and loyal fanbase would be tuning in to watch. They also were not too disheartened as they felt BTS did not need an award to prove their impact and talent which is already evident worldwide. BTS themselves were not too sad last year as V’s expression went viral for not being too impressed during the award announcement. Once more, for the Grammys 2022, BTS did not look unhappy as they were excited to perform for fans. But leader RM and rapper Suga did get honest with fans during a VLive following the Grammys.

BTS have an afterparty on VLive

To celebrate their time at the Grammys 2022, BTS held an afterparty online with fans. They went on VLive to chat with ARMY and all the hardships they went through to perform as two of the members had Covid, while Jin had a finger surgery. BTS was also happy that all seven of them were together again and that they would go on to have their 4-day concert in Las Vegas itself. Fans further flexed that their concert was at a much larger venue than where the 64th Grammys was held. But while talking about the award snub, the atmosphere during the Live got somber for a moment.

While thanking fans for their support no matter the outcome, Jimin said, “Thanks to ARMY, we’ve been able to try this again. It’s too bad we didn’t win, but simply having been here has been meaningful nonetheless.” V and Jungkook agreed that it had been a great experience for them and tried to lighten the mood by asking if any of them were sad. However, Suga admitted, “Me, I think I was kind of sad.” It seems that RM shared the sentiments too.

RM felt that he did not have to hide his true feelings from his fans and explained that it was alright to be a little disappointed. He said, “I mean, what is there to say? I’m not too happy about it and that’s the truth. I think it’s good to be honest. I’ll be sad today, but I’m going to be okay tomorrow. Tonight, we’re going to have our feelings. And then, by tomorrow, we’ll feel better and we’ll be right back at it. Seriously, though. We don’t have any regrets. We tried our best and gave our everything. We had a good time. Sure, we feel bummed about some things…but what really matters is that we put this amazing performance on camera.”
