Jinyoung gets buzz cut for film, fans say 'GOT7 comeback not happening soon'

This is the first time Jinyoung has gotten a drastic look since his singing debut with JJP in 2012

K-pop idols are notorious for getting all kinds of hairstyles and hair colors for their comebacks. However, we have idol actor Park Jinyoung who has pretty much had the same dark locks ever since he debuted with GOT7. And while he doesn’t experiment, Ahgases (GOT7s’ fandom) love his look. Well, it is no wonder that K-pop Twitter exploded when photos of Jinyoung with a buzz cut for his upcoming film 'Christmas Carol' started making the rounds on March 8.

While Jinyoung played two characters in the K-drama ‘The Devil Judge’, ‘Christmas Carol’ is his first major film where he will be playing twins, helmed by filmmakers of ‘Train To Busan’ and ‘Save Me’. Jinyoung’s character is out to get revenge as his twin brother is murdered. Fans were in awe as the first stills of the film were released where we see a haggard and worn down version of the GOT7 star. Well, it looks like that wasn’t the end of it, as he went through a drastic transformation for the film that has fans praising his commitment to the role.

Jinyoung gets a buzz cut

Having first gone for an extremely awkward spiked mohawk when he first debuted in 2012 as JJP, Jinyoung has never strayed too far since then from his signature brown/black hairstyle. But for the film ‘Christmas Carol’, it looks like he got a buzz cut as seen in the behind-the-scenes photos that were circulated on Twitter after filming ended on March 8. And fans are having the time of their lives with it since there were also rumors of a GOT7 reunion happening at the same time too.

‘Makes me even more excited for Christmas Carol’

Fans were excited for the film as they made tweets like, “I know it's pretty common to go through drastic appearance changes for characters but this being jinyoung's first ever big change makes me even more excited for christmas carol he'll do so well.” One Ahgase posted, “Jinyoung’s 20 shades of black and brown hair, you will be missed.” Another was impressed, “I’M EXTREMELY PROUD OF UR DEDICATION AND HARD WORK, OUR JINYOUNG 🥺 ur growth as an actor never fails to amaze me!!! we’re all looking forward seeing to ur works this year.” 

Another joked, “The got7 comeback is not happening anytime soon there's no way jinyoung is willing to film an mv being bald like that.” Fans also couldn’t help but wonder at how Bambam would react, “Jinyoung: bambam when they meet again.”

One Ahgase asked, “How did we get mark in korea and jinyoung bald in a week.” Another was excited, “It's the way jinyoung never did anything THIS crazy to his hair in all his years as a performer??? OH I KNOW THIS FILM BOUT TO BE MF BLOCKBUSTER.” 

One Ahgase shared, “Jinyoung and his habit of brushing his hair back boy what are you gonna do now.” Another wondered how Jay B would react, “Jaebeom when he sees jinyoung bald.”

Fans also brought back the time he wore a wig for ‘Yumi’s Cells’, “Actor park jinyoung is really full of surprises. he really went from this to this.”
