‘Gaslit’: 5 things you didn't know about Julia Roberts
The upcoming Starz drama 'Gaslit' promises to tell a different kind of Watergate story. Starring Oscar-winning actors Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, the drama focuses on the forgotten players and lesser-known aspects of this era-defining political scandal. 'Gaslit', which is based on the first season of Slate’s Slow Burn podcast, was created and executive produced by Robbie Pickering.
'Gaslit' focuses on the women whose stories are often forgotten in standard retellings of Watergate. Originally, Armie Hammer was also part of the cast, however, he left the project, weeks before a series of sexual misconduct and assault allegations emerged against him. Hammer has denied those allegations. Let’s meet the stellar cast of the show.

Julia Roberts

Sean Penn
Sean Penn is an American actor, director, screenwriter, and producer. He has won two Academy Awards, for his roles in the mystery drama 'Mystic River' (2003) and the biopic 'Milk' (2008). He has also won a Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival for 'She’s So Lovely' (1997). Penn made his feature film directorial debut with 'The Indian Runner' (1991), followed by the drama film 'The Crossing Guard'(1995) and the mystery film 'The Pledge' (2001); all three were critically well-received. In addition to his film work, Penn has engaged in political and social activism.
Dan Stevens
Daniel Stevens is an English actor. He first drew international attention in the drama series 'Downton Abbey' (2010–12). He also starred in the thriller film 'The Guest' (2014), 'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb' (2014), 'Beauty and the Beast' (2017), 'Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga' (2020). From 2017 to 2019, he starred in the critically acclaimed FX series 'Legion'. In 2018, he starred in the Netflix horror-thriller 'Apostle'.
Betty Gilpin
Betty Gilpin is an American actress best known for her role in the comedy series 'Glow' (2017–2019) for which she was nominated for three Emmys. Gilpin has appeared in films such as the mystery thriller 'True Story' (2015), and 'The Grudge'(2020). For 'The Hunt', she won a Critics' Choice Super Award for Best Actress in an Action Movie.
'Gaslit' will debut on Starz at midnight on April 24.
