'Shining Vale' on STARZ: 5 things you didn't know about Courteney Cox

The horror comedy series also features Mira Sorvino and Greg Kinnear in pivotals roles

Courteney Cox took the world by storm with the NBC comedy series ‘FRIENDS’ and became a superstar. Since then, the acclaimed actress has been a part of several high-end ventures and established herself in the industry. Cox is set to enthrall the audiences once again with her acting skills in the upcoming STARZ series ‘Shining Vale’.

The story revolves around a dysfunctional family that moves from a city to a small town after Patricia “Pat” Phelps (Cox)  a former "wild child" who became famous through writing a raunchy female empowerment novel, is caught cheating on her husband.
However, the house they move in is haunted and a lot of atrocities have taken place there. Pat is convinced that there is something wrong with the house, but no one else believes her. Things get really wild when the demons haunting the house begin to appear much more real.

The premise of the horror-comedy series seems really interesting and is surely going to excite viewers. Apart from Cox, the show boasts a stellar cast, and here are all the actors appearing on the series. Let’s take a look at the cast of ‘Shining Vale’.

Courteney Cox as Patricia “Pat” Phelps

Cox is one of the most influential stars working in the TV industry right now and her credentials are a testament to her success. The actress made her acting debut by making a cameo appearance in the Bruce Springsteen song ‘Dancing in the Dark’ and made her television debut in 1984 with ‘As the World Turns’. On the other hand, she made her feature film debut with the 1987 film ‘Down Twisted’.



 

1994 turned out to be a massive year for Cox as ‘Friends’ aired its first season that year and turned out to be a massive success. The show ran for 10 years and made Cox a worldwide phenomenon. She was nominated for seven Screen Actors Guild awards for her role on the show and won in 1998. She received further recognition and critical acclaim for her role in the movie ‘Scream’.

Since then, Cox has featured on projects such as ‘Dirt’, ‘Cougar Town’, ‘Web Therapy’, ‘Bedtime Stories’, ‘Mothers and Daughters’, ‘Modern Family’, and ‘Friends: The Reunion’.

Greg Kinnear as Terry

Born on July 17, 1963, Greg Kinnear began his acting journey with cameo appearances on several TV shows like ‘Life Goes On’, ‘LA Law’, and ‘Mancuso FBI’. On the other hand, 1994 saw him starring in his first-ever feature film, titled ‘Blankman’. However, his moment of glory came in 1997 when he was cast as Simon Bishop in ‘As Good As It Gets’. The movie made him a superstar and earned him his first Academy Award nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category. The film’s leading actors Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt won Best Actor (Male & Female) trophies.

Kinnear co-starred with Steve Carell in the Oscar-winning comedy-drama ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ in 2006, for which he received a nomination at the SAG Awards. Meanwhile, in 2011, he portrayed the role of former US President John F. Kennedy in the series ‘The Kennedys’.  The actor garnered a lot of praise for his acting and was nominated for an Emmy as well.

Kinnear has also played the role of Joe Biden in the 2016 TV movie ‘Confirmation’. He was recently seen on the TV show ‘The Stand’. 

Mira Sorvino as Rosemary

The Academy Award-winning actress began her acting career with the 1985 film ‘The Stuff’. She garnered a lot of praise for her role in the 1994 movie ‘Amongst Friends’. The movie made a strong foundation for Sorvino and led to more acting opportunities.

The actress garnered worldwide recognition with Woody Allen’s movie ‘Mighty Aphrodite’ and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role. She never looked back after that gave superb performances in ‘Norma Jean & Marilyn’, ‘Human Trafficking’, ‘Will & Grace’, ‘Drowning’, and ‘Impeachment: American Crime Story’.



 

She was one of the first actresses to publicly speak out about the sexual harassment she endured from Harvey Weinstein and believed that her career was damaged after she refused Weinstein’s sexual advances.

Sherilyn Fenn as Robyn Court

The veteran actress came to attention for her performance as Audrey Horne on the television series ‘Twin Peaks’ for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award. After the show, Fenn chose to focus on widening her range of roles and was determined to avoid typecasting. 

In 1990 US Magazine chose her as one of the "10 Most Beautiful Women in the World" and in 1991 People magazine chose her as one of the "50 Most Beautiful Women in the World".

‘Boxing Helena’, ‘Fatal Instinct’, ‘Fist of the Warrior’, ‘S.W.A.T.’, ‘Titans’, ‘The Magicians’, and ‘Little America’ are some of the projects she has been a part of over the years.
