(G)I-DLE’s Miyeon makes chart-topping debut with ‘Drive’ from her first solo album ‘MY’
Shocking fans with her doll-like visuals in the music video for ‘Drive’, the lead single from her debut solo album ‘MY’, Miyeon sets a new record for (G)I-DLE members as a soloist. Miyeon dropped her solo debut album titled ‘MY’ which is adapted from the initials of her birth name, finally making her highly anticipated solo debut. Miyeon, who also is an actress, is the third of five (G)I-DLE members to officially make a solo debut other than Soyeon and Yuqi.
Miyeon made her solo debut on April 27 with the single titled ‘Drive’ which topped domestic music charts immediately after its release proving her global popularity. The lead single from her solo debut album ranked at Number 1 on local music sites like Bugs and appeared among the Top 10 on other charts like Melon and Genie, proving Miyeon’s successful solo debut.

Miyeon’s ‘MY’ tops international iTunes charts
Not only was Miyeon's solo debut successful in South Korea but the (G)I-DLE main vocalist also made heads turn by topping international charts such as iTunes’ Top Album chart with ‘MY’. Immediately after its release, the album took the Number 2 spot on the worldwide iTunes album chart as well as made its rocking entry straight at Number 1 on the European iTunes album chart.
Miyeon’s solo debut EP ‘MY’ also topped the iTunes ‘Top Album’ Chart in 13 countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, and more. The album ‘MY’ also sold 43K copies on the first day of its release which is amazing for a solo artist, with the debut album showing Miyeon’s slow rise to the top.
Miyeon’s lead single ‘Drive’ charts internationally
The music video for Miyeon’s lead single ‘Drive’ has accumulated more than 2 million views on YouTube within 24 hours of its release, while the song also debuted at Number 46 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart. The single also ranked among the Top 5 on iTunes Top Song charts in several countries immediately after its release.
With her solo debut, Miyeon is also ranked at Number 2 on Melon’s Female Solo Artist Chart as of April 28, while it was reported that the single had accumulated 84,422 unique listeners on Melon within the first 24 hours of its release. The single ‘Drive’ is currently ranked at Number 9 on Bugs, Number 97 on Melon, Number 100 on Flo as well as Number 150 on Genie. Meanwhile, Miyeon performed ‘Drive’ as well as the b-side track ‘Te Amo’ for the first time ever on Mnet’s 'M Countdown' as of April 28.
