From ‘Better Call Saul’ and ‘House of the Dragon’ to ‘The Rings of Power’ and ‘Severance’, there was no dearth of extraordinary content on TV and we expect 2023 to be even better.

Here are all the amazing TV shows coming out in January 2023 that should definitely be on your watchlist.

‘Ginny & Georgia’ – Netflix (January 5)

The Netflix comedy-drama returns for its final season in January 2023 and will see Ginny will be figuring out how to tell her mother Georgia that she knows her mother is a murderer. However, she doesn’t know that her mother took that extreme decision to protect her daughter. What’s next for the duo? Well, we’ll find out when Season 2 returns.

Season 2 of ‘Ginny & Georgia’ will stream exclusively on Netflix on January 5.

‘The Rig’ – Amazon Prime Video (January 6)

The thrilling Prime Video series primarily focuses on the crew of the Kinloch Bravo oil rig as they fight for survival after a strange fog cuts off all communication with the shore, and leaves them stranded in the fierce waves of the North Sea. With their helicopter not coming, it’s up to their manager to keep the crew safe and alive. As the rig systems fail, survival becomes really hard and the paranoia reaches the most extreme point.

The series sees Iain Glen, Emily Hampshire, Martin Compston, Calvin Demba, Owen Teale, and more in pivotal roles.

‘The Rig’ streams exclusively on Prime Video on January 6.

‘Velma’ – HBO Max (January 12)

If you were a fan of ‘Scooby Doo’, then you are surely going to love the newest series from HBO Max. Titled ‘Velma’, the animation series focuses on Velma Dinkley and the entire ‘Mystery Inc.’ before they assembled together to investigate crimes. The show will re-introduce viewers to the iconic characters with a new twist and it will also be revealed that Velma is a “lesbian.”

Mindy Kaling voices the titular character while Sam Richardson (Shaggy), Constance Wu (Daphne), and Glenn Howerton (Fred) are the other voice stars attached to the project.

‘Vikings: Valhalla’ – Netflix (January 12)

Are you a fan of shows that feature gruesome action sequences? If yes, then ‘Vikings: Valhalla’ should definitely be on your watch list. Season 2 of the Netflix series is set to enthrall viewers after the first edition continued the ‘Vikings’ saga in the most extraordinary way. The Fall of Kattegat shattered our heroes and now they have no place to live. It’s time for them to gather themselves and test their courage in the world beyond Kattegat.

The first season received positive reviews and viewers expect similar things from the second one as well. Will our heroes be able to survive in the cruel world? We’ll see it when the show returns.

There is no doubt that ‘The Last of Us’ is the most highly-anticipated show of 2023 and viewers are lucky to have the premiere in the first month of the New Year. Based on the video game series of the same name, ‘The Last of Us’ primarily focuses on a smuggler named Joel (Pedro Pascal) who is tasked with escorting teenage Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across the post-apocalyptic United States in an attempt to create a potential cure for an infection to which Ellie is immune. However, the duo faces a lot of dangerous situations during their journey and fights zombies and monsters in order to stay alive.

‘The Last of Us’ is one of the selling video game series of all time and won several accolades. Viewers will be hoping the network stays true to the source material.

‘The Last of Us’ premieres January 15 on HBO and HBO Max.

‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 2 – Paramount+ (January 15)

Taylor Sheridan stunned the world with his western series ‘Yellowstone’ and garnered universal praise. The supremely talented writer went on to show that ‘Yellowstone’ wasn’t a fluke and continued to deliver epic content with ‘Mayor of Kingstown’. The first season ended with Jeremy Renner’s Mike McLusky facing the consequences of the prison riot. Season 2 will be all about McLusky taking desperate measures to gain back power and control.

Fans would definitely want to see the show after Renner’s tragic accident and show their support for the actor.

‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 2 will be streaming exclusively on Paramount+ on January 15.

‘That ‘90s Show’ – Netflix (January 19)

The spin-off series based on the iconic ‘That ‘70s Show’ will primarily focus on the kids of the original characters as they try to bond with each other. Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), daughter of Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pincilotti (Laura Prepon), will return to meet her grandparents in Wisconsin, two decades after the events of the original series.

Apart from the new cast, the series will also feature cameos from the original cast members such as Grace, Prepon, Mila Kunis, and Ashton Kutcher. Meanwhile, original stars Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith reprise their respective roles from the original series.

‘That ‘90s Show’ will be streaming exclusively on Netflix on January 19.

‘The Legend of Vox Machina’ – Amazon Prime Video (January 20)

‘The Legend of Vox Machina’ took the world by storm last year and instantly became a fan-favorite. Based on the campaign created by Critical Role, the series follows ‘Vox Machina’, a band of misfits with a fondness for boozing and brawling. They are tasked with a mission to kill the evil creature plaguing the world, but everything changes when they get to know the reality behind all of it. The first season received universal acclaim and Season 2 will follow the team going on a new adventure.

Season 2 of ‘The Legend of Vox Machine’ will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on January 20.

‘Poker Face’ - Peacock (January 26)

After stunning the world with ‘Knives Out’ movies, Rian Johnson is returning to television with the highly-anticipated series ‘Poker Face’. The series will be a character-driven, case-of-the-week mystery comedy-drama in the "howcatchem" format. The series sees Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a casino worker who goes on the run. Johnson is known to handle such murder mysteries with ease and gives thrilling content to the viewers.

The cast also includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stephanie Hsu, David Castaneda, Benjamin Bratt, Adrien Brody, Hong Chau, Jameela Jamil, Judith Light, Ron Perlman, and Luis Guzman in pivotal roles.

The first four episodes of ‘Poker Face’ will premiere on Peacock on January 26.
