'Severance' Episode 6: Mark's defiance sees him inch closer to the truth
Right off the bat, Episode 8 dives into an exciting atmosphere as outie Mark (Adam Scott) learns that the mystery woman is the one who implants the chip and is the only one capable of de-activating it and causing reintegration. Adding to the already thrilling scenario we see the second death of the show as Mr Graner (Michael Cumpsty), the head of security of the Severed floor gets killed by the lady when he shows up at the scene. Mark narrowly avoids getting found out by him but gets the key that could open the necessary doors after being handed Graner's security key card and instructed to take it to work.
Episode 8 revolves around various members of the MDR department who finally lose their cool and decide to take action. Dylan's (Zach Cherry) experience of being woken up outside and learning he has a son, causes him to snap while Irving's (John Turturro) cold rage at finding out Burt (Christopher Walken) is being made to retire was extremely satisfying as we see the hesitant members of MDR finally join hands. John Turturro's delivery of the line, 'Let's burn this place to the ground' perfectly captured the wrath of the employees and was a standout dialogue that we adored. Tramell Tillman does an excellent job this episode and shines as Milchick gets more screentime allowing you to experience the creepy man in all his glory. Tillman's acting that showcases hostility that is thinly veiled behind friendliness, makes Milchick stand out even more as an antagonist. Ms Cobel's character continues to leave us on edge and Patricia Arquette makes the perfect wolf in sheep's clothing, who scopes out her targets.
The Severance procedure also hides some dark secrets and Mark is in for a great shock. The MDR team find a way that could allow them to learn more about Lumon and its workings, setting off a stirring in all of them to find the truth. Lumon needs to watch its back as there's a spirit of revolt and revolution in the air, that sets up a beautiful strike back to come. Suspenseful, intriguing, gripping, and exciting, Episode 8 was chock full of action and stands as the best episode of the season thus far. 'Severance' is the show that keeps on giving and we can't wait to see what happens next.
