LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The 'Legally Blonde' star Reese Witherspoon recently spoke about how the industry is missing out on real-life love story movies that eventually make the world miss out on romance in general and evaporate their faith in love. Witherspoon was at a dinner with Zoe Saldana and her Italian husband when she realized that Saldana would be the perfect one to play Amy, the main lead of the movie, 'From Scratch,' as there is a reliability factor that would work for her.

Reese Witherspoon also shared her thoughts about how she thought that Netflix was the perfect platform for the series as the channel can reach many people and would help with the international aspect of the series. Along with Tembi Locke, Attica Locke, and Saldana, Reese Witherspoon serves as the executive producer of 'From Scratch'.

In an exclusive interview with Variety, Reese Witherspoon spilled quite some beans, saying, "I don’t know if there’s a lot of romance in the world right now. We haven’t seen a modern romance that’s a true story like this in quite some time, so it’s really beautiful to see Zoe Saldana - who actually has married an Italian man and speaks Italian on film - to watch that love story happen and know that it is so deeply personal to her.” She further continued, "We just thought it was the perfect platform because of the international aspect of the show. The nature of the ability for Netflix to just reach people all over the world was something that was really important to us.”

The drama limited series created by Attica and Tembi follows an American student on a trip to Italy, who dives into the arts and accidentally meets the love of her life. Attica serves as the showrunner of the Netflix series which consists of eight episodes. However, 'From Scratch' also marks Attica’s second production with Hello Sunshine, Witherspoon’s female-forward media company, following the release of 'Little Fires Everywhere' in 2020.

The romantic drama is based on Tembi's New York Times best-selling memoir entitled 'From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home'. The official synopsis of the film reads, "Amy is fresh off the plane from Texas, exploring Italy and trying to experience what she may never have the time to do again, taking art classes and trying amazing food. A chance encounter with Lino, an Italian chef, leads to the whirlwind romance of a lifetime. The two embark on a life together full of love, but it isn't without difficulty. Amy's parents want her to return to law school, while Lino's parents are unsure of him marrying a Black woman from America. The two persevere, getting married and continuing to take what life throws at them, even when things get tough."

Prepare to embrace a new romantic comedy limited series, 'From Scratch,' which is all set to premiere on Friday, October 21, 2022.
