AMALFI, ITALY: 'The Equalizer' franchise started back in 2014 after they loosely adapted from the 1980s TV series of the same name. Denzel Washington partnered with Antoine Fuqua to launch this franchise and ever since then it has created a fan base of its own. The first film of the franchise focuses on Robert McCall, a former US Marine turned DIA intelligence officer, who reluctantly returns to action to protect a teenage prostitute from members of the Russian mafia whereas the second installment focuses on McCall as he sets out on a path of revenge after one of his friends is murdered.

It leads to our third part, although there is not much that has been revealed by the creators but it is safe to assume that this will too follow Denzil Washington's McCall. According to ScreenRant, during the development of the third part of the film, one of the most exciting updates came in regard to who would appear alongside Denzel. It was announced that Dakota Fanning joined 'The Equalizer 3' cast, but the role she will play has not been revealed.

Fans have been losing their calm ever since the news and the BTS picture surfaced online as it made them extremely "nostalgic." The excitement that came from Dakota Fanning's casting originated from her past work with Denzel in 2004's 'Man on Fire,' one of Tony Scott's best movies.

A fan wrote, "Yes!! Complete the trilogy #Equalizer3," while another shared, "Very cool! #DakotaFanning #DenzelWashington reunite for #Equalizer3." A fan tweeted, "It’s happening!!! #Equalizer3 Denzel Washington movies are the best!!!" A fan said, "Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning reunited for #Equalizer3 (2023)," while another added, "#Equalizer3 (September 2023) Cannot wait."

It is safe to say that the reunion of the cast after 18 years only brought love and happiness to the fans. However, in August 2018, Antoine Fuqua announced his plans to continue the film series. The filmmaker expressed interest in the plot taking place in an international setting. However, by January 2022, a third film was officially confirmed to be in development, with Denzel Washington returning in the titular role while Dakota Fanning was announced to have been cast as well in June 2022. The principal photography began on October 10, 2022, on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Filming will continue in the region until November 20, until it moves to Naples in early December, before wrapping production by January 2023, in Rome. Fuqua will once again serve as director, with Washington announcing that it would be the next movie he films.

Apparently, 'The Equalizer 3' is set to be released on September 1, 2023, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
