LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The intricate world of vaults in Prime Video's post-apocalyptic drama 'Fallout' has fascinated viewers with its complexity and mysterious nature.

The vaults are underground bunkers where certain individuals took refuge, shielding themselves from radiation during the nuclear exchange.

Over 200 years post-war, the vault dwellers built a closed community with advanced technology and resources to sustain themselves without needing to step on Earth's surface.

However, an attack on Vault 33 in the pilot episode of 'Fallout' set the stage for an engrossing plot.

As Lucy MacLean

As Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) steps out of the vault to find her father who was abducted during the attack, her brother, Norm MacLean (Moises Arias), carries out a secret investigation within the vault.

Previously, Norm MacLean, along with Chet (Dave Register), secretly visited Vault 32 to find out how the raiders managed to breach the vault.

They were taken aback as they discovered the skeletons of Vault 32 residents, leading them to conclude that these individuals had died long before the raiders' arrival.

Looking at the skeletons, he concluded that the residents were trying to open Vault 31 before they died under mysterious circumstances.

In 'Fallout' Episode 5, Norm continues his investigation as he accesses door log details that imply the vault's door was opened from the outside.

The unsettling sight of Vault pushes him to look further into the matter, leading him to search for records of inter-vault trades that were implemented for personnel distribution.

Following the abduction of Hank MacLean (Kyle MacLachlan), Betty Pearson (Leslie Uggams) wins the elections and is announced as the new Overseer.

However, Norm's skepticism about her leadership grows, and he becomes increasingly concerned when Betty gathers the residents of Vault 33 and leads them on a visit to Vault 32.

To Norm's astonishment, Vault 32 has been tidied up, with the skeletons removed and the walls bearing cryptic messages repainted.

Betty announces that some residents of Vault 33 will be shifted to Vault 32 to keep it functional after its population was wiped off.

Though Norm hasn't yet cracked the mysterious events of Vault 32, he senses a larger conspiracy at play.

As a viewer, we can gather that something shady is happening inside the vaults that could potentially bring harm to Vault 33 residents.

The cryptic messages on the walls of Vault 32 that read, "We know the truth" and "We know what's in there," hint at a chilling conspiracy that threatens to sow unrest within the vaults.

Even one of the raiders, who is held captive, hinted that the vault dwellers aren't innocent.

In the final scene of 'Fallout' Episode 5, we see Lucy entering a Medical lab that turns out to be another vault.

We can speculate that the Vault 31 dwellers, who are known to be technologically advanced, are conducting deadly experiments on those residing on the Earth's surface. This would justify why the raiders attacked them and abducted Hank.

These experiments are likely linked to Wilzig (Michael Emerson), who is now dead but a device inside his head is of utmost importance in the plotline. Answers to the mystery of Vaults are likely to be answered in the further episodes.

'Fallout' is available to stream on Prime Video.
