Ex-IZ*ONE star Ahn Yujin to lead Starship’s new girl group IVE, fans ‘proud of her’

Ahn Yujin has been in the news recently for several reasons - from contracting Covid-19 to being put on a hiatus while hosting the music show ‘Inkigayo’. However, this time fans are rejoicing thanks to the latest update regarding Yujin. She was previously part of the leading girl group IZ*ONE. They, unfortunately, disbanded in April. Fans raised more than $2.6 million but it didn’t help. But the girls are expanding their careers by debuting as soloists and joining new groups like IVE.

IZ*ONE’s leader Eunbi debuted as a soloist quite recently. There are also talks that Miyawaki Sakura and Chaewon are set to debut in HYBE’s newest girl group. Yuri just debuted with her solo single album ‘Glassy’ last month. Chaeyeon went in a different route as she participated as a dancer in the all-female dance crew competition ‘Street Woman Fighter’. Fans were wondering what the maknae (youngest) line which consists of Yujin and Wonyoung would be up to. Since IZ*ONE was a project group, the girls were still a part of their previous agency. Both Yujin and Wonyoung are under Starship Entertainment.

Yujin to be the leader of IVE

Starship Entertainment houses popular groups like Monsta X and Cravity. Their second-gen girl group Sistar were dubbed as ‘queens of summer’ for their viral summer songs. Their currently active girl group happens to be WJSN aka Cosmic Girls that debuted in 2016. Well, it looks like the agency is preparing to introduce a new girl group. On November 3, Starship reported that they would be forming a new girl group called IVE. And the first member revealed happens to be none other than Ahn Yujin.

Not only will Yujin be the vocalist of IVE, but it has also been revealed that she will be its leader. The label also released a headshot with Yujin looking charming and fierce in a chic outfit and dark makeup. Fans were delighted that she went from being the second-youngest member of IZ*ONE to leading IVE. They also believe that with Wonyoung being the other popular female trainee of Starship, she too will be a part of IVE’s lineup. The girl group is set to have six members. As for the name, IVE is short for ‘I have’. The group plans to express themselves and the things that they have.

'She'll do well'

Proud fans have been trending Yujin as they made tweets like, “I still remember when the maknae line pick Yujin as the one who will be the leader of younger group. Even Minju, Yuri, Hitomi and Nako acknowledges  it. I can't wait to see Yujin leading while saying “Two.. Three.. Hello, we are IVE!” One shared, “Oh wow yujin is really ive's leader i'm so proud of her i know she'll do well.” Another wondered if Yujin and Wonyoung will become the oldest of IVE, “From the fact that wonyoung was the only member that calls yujin "unnie" in izone... and then maybe they'll both be a part of the unnie line in ive.” One guessed the group’s lineup, “Imagine this visual lineup for ive… wonyoung yujin xinyu zige… now THAT is dangerous.” Another joked about CLC’s Yujin who is also debuting in a new group, “Ive's yujin and kep1er's yujin when they meet in music shows.” One shared, “The category is face and an yujin always wins.”
