'Emergence' will provide answers about Piper and hunters immediately and other questions will emerge, promises Robert Bailey Jr
The mystery of 'Emergence' has already sucked us in too deep, and we are just a couple of episodes in. From who Piper (Alexa Swinton) is, to why dangerous men are after her, there are many questions the show needs to answer, and according to the actors on the show, it is only a matter of time before they are answered.
According to Robert Bailey Jr., who plays Jo's (Allison Tolman) right-hand man Chris on the show, 'Emergence' won’t take as long as some might think to reveal the answers to some of its mysteries. "Things that people might assume are the big questions for our show, we get a few episodes in and we’re like 'Oh yeah, here’s that answer,' and moving on to even more," he told MEA WorldWide (MEAWW), adding, "The scope of this show and how it keeps growing is extremely exciting for me, especially as a sci-fi fan. I think the fans are gonna love where we’re going with this and the pace at which we get there. Almost every episode there’s something huge that’s gonna happen, so it’s without question a wild ride."
This sentiment was corroborated by actor, Zabryna Guevara, who also told MEAWW that revelations on the show would happen really quickly. "You think that some big reveal is going to be like, 'Oh finally, I understand it all', but all it's going to do is make you think, 'Wait, now I have 10 more questions that popped up in its place' So, it may mushroom that way," said the actress who portrays Abby, a doctor and Jo's best friend, on the show.
'Emergence' has already managed to reveal Piper is not trying to hide her powers from Jo, in fact, as early as episode 2, she revealed to her foster mother that when she gets upset bad things happen around her. What we are about to find out soon, is how Jo's decision to let Piper live with her is going to affect the lives of those who love her and trust her. Intruders have entered her home, and lives of her family members have been put in danger, but how Abby and Chris' lives are going to impact remain yet to be explored.
"Chris is extremely loyal to Jo and I think as viewers get to know her over the first few episodes, they’ll understand exactly why. Our show takes place in a small town where everyone sort of grows up knowing everyone. I think Chris looks up to Jo a lot and believes in her judgment and moral compass," said Bailey Jr., adding, "He’s already seen her do the right thing and do her best time and time again. So I think if she ever does anything that may not be to the letter of the law, Chris simply believes she has good reason for it and decides to trust in her. We’ll see over the course of the season if that sort of blind trust gets him in trouble."
We know many dangerous people are involved in whatever Piper is running away from - people who aren't afraid to kill or disintegrate bodies. They will not stop at anything to protect and cover up their actions.
