Netflix 'Hellbound': 5 things you didn't know about the horror series
While the basic premise of the series takes a while to comprehend and even digest, the mysterious elves and strange instances that take place on an overall eerie island make you want to cancel all your Christmas plans and head over there instead!
Having said that, the family of four, inclusive of Mads and his wife, Charlotte, along with their children, Kasper and Josefine, head to an island for a quick Christmas getaway to make the most of the festive season and reconnect as a family.
During their time there, they meet with islanders Karen, her grandaughter, Liv, and Moller, all of whom (save for Liv) don't seem to be entirely ecstatic about the island's newest visitors.
Although each episode ends with seemingly irritating cliffhangers (kudos to the team; there wouldn't be the concept of binge-watching otherwise), one is bound to be just about overly invested to continue moving on to the next episode to see how the story unfurls.
All in all, the 6th episode by far, has to be the ultimate build-up coupled with the darkest plot one would ever imagine. With the elves being seemingly ravenous for revenge after Josefine nurtured a baby elf and accidentally killed an adult one, they're now on the constant lookout to hunt down anything remotely related to human beings.
Although Josefine is still young, the spiteful Karen blames her for blowing the situation out of proportion. In fact, she also makes the little girl think that she can make things right again, and even ties her up to a pole in order to readily sacrifice her!
Luckily, her plan backfires as Kasper, Liv and Moller find Josefine on time. Before Karen can pull a trigger on the change of plans (both literally and figuratively), she is attacked by the hideous, demonic-looking elves from behind and the rest is history.
In time, the family leaves the island, and Liv joins them at the last minute. As the ferry sets sail and they're all distracting themselves from the recent happenings, we see a tiny face with huge eyes hanging onto the engine of the car from beneath; it's Kee-Ko!
Season 1 of 'Elves' premiered on November 28, 2021, on Netflix.
