The holiday season is just around the corner and television networks are getting ready to enthrall viewers with sweet love stories to keep the Christmas spirit on. So, it comes as no surprise that Netflix is getting ready for the Christmas season as well. But they are doing things differently this time around.

The holiday season is all about love, but Netflix has some other plans this time around. The streaming giant is giving everyone a chance to celebrate Christmas with a lot of thrills and chills with its upcoming horror series ‘Elves’. The Danish series is about a family celebrating Christmas by going on a vacation. However, their vacation soon turns into a nightmare when they find out that the place is filled with mysterious creatures. Will they be able to spend Christmas happily? Or the holiday season has brought misery for them? We’ll get to know about more such things when the series arrives on Netflix.

The upcoming foreign-language series seems to be a worthy addition to Netflix’s catalog which already has blockbuster shows like ‘Money Heist’, ‘Post Mortem: No one dies in Skarnes’, and ‘Biohackers’.

When does ‘Elves’ release and where can you watch the horror series

The upcoming Danish series will be premiering exclusively on Netflix on November 28, 2021. According to the Netflix press site, the show will be available for streaming at 3:01 am EST. You can also watch it by signing up for the platform’s free trial. Apart from that, viewers can also opt for different subscription plans provided by the streaming giant. A premium plan that allows more people to watch the service on different screens simultaneously, costs $18 per month. Meanwhile, the basic US plan costs $9 per month.

What is ‘Elves’ all about?

The official synopsis reads, “Hoping to reconnect over Christmas, a family of four travels to a remote island in the Danish archipelago, only to find it controlled by members of a strongly religious community living in balance with fierce creatures in the woods revealed to be… elves. Real, monstrous beings that inspired the folklore and myths we all know. When the girl in the family finds and brings home a baby elf, she inadvertently disrupts the balance and throws everyone on the island into a life-or-death battle for faith, family, and pure survival.”

Who stars in the Netflix horror series?

The six-part horror series has an entirely Danish cast. The series’ cast includes Ann Eleonora Jørgensen, Rasmus Hammerich, Vivelill Søgaard Holm, Sonja Steen, Peder Thomas Pedersen, Lukas Løkken, and Lila Nobel.

Ann Eleonora Jørgensen

The Danish actress began her acting career in 1993 and since then, she has done several award-worthy roles. Jørgensen is known for her roles in projects such as ‘TAXA’ and ‘Forbrydelsen’. Meanwhile, her roles in movies like ‘Italian for Beginners’ and ‘In Your Hands’ took her popularity to a whole new level. 



 

Showrunners

The series is being helmed by Roni Ezra while Stefan Jaworski has penned the story for the upcoming series. On the other hand, Jaworski, Jonas Ellen, Peter Bose, Jannik Tai Mosholt, and Christian Potalivo serve as executive producers on the show.

The trailer begins with a family going to spend their Christmas holidays on a remote island and soon they get to know that the area is not visited by tourists. However, things get worse when the young girl from the family finds a baby elf and decides to bring him home. But her actions provoke the elves in killing every human living on this island.
