Dispatch 'D'Festa' Concert: TWICE fans 'tired' of Jeongyeon being excluded from poster

Jeongyeon was on hiatus when the K-pop groups of the lineup were pre-recording for the concert

Korea Dispatch is going all out for its 10th-anniversary celebration. As a ‘reward’ to their loyal audience, they expose one big celebrity couple every new year. However, for 2022, instead of unearthing the next couple, Dispatch decided to announce a mega-concert with the biggest K-pop groups ever. Not only does the lineup have current popular faces like Stray Kids, TXT and NCT, it also has global names like BTS, TWICE, Seventeen and even the disbanded group NU’EST.

With many of these groups being extremely difficult to get for ensemble festivals and concerts like BTS and TWICE, fans jokingly called ‘D’Festa’ as the ‘Hostage’ concert as they believed these K-pop groups were being forced to perform. They believed that Dispatch had some dirt on these groups and so as to keep the media outlet from exposing it, the groups had agreed to perform. While it was all speculation and fun and games, TWICE fans are now angry with Dispatch for excluding Jeongyeon.

Jeongyeon missing from Dispatch’s promo for ‘D’Festa’

Dispatch started dropping more and more information about the ‘D’Festa’ concert by dropping posters of some idols. On March 24, they released a final poster with the faces of all of the idols participating. However, they left out TWICE’s Jeongyeon. Even in the promotional video which gives a sneak-peek of the pre-recorded performances, Jeongyeon’s name is missing when all of TWICE’s members are listed. 

It should be noted that TWICE’s Jeongyeon was going through an on-and-off hiatus in late 2021 for her surgery and mental health. With the ‘D’Festa’ concert being wholly pre-recorded, fans ascertained that TWICE must have recorded their segments when Jeongyeon was on hiatus and could not participate. However, ONCEs (TWICE’s fandom) reasoned that there was no need to exclude Jeongyeon from the poster or while mentioning the members of TWICE since she was still part of the group. Even non-fans found it odd that she was missing.

‘TWICE is nine’

One user tweeted, “They sacrificed Jeongyeon's pic for to make space for this slice of pizza?” A ONCE edited the poster, “Now it's completed.” Another fan brought back a past clip, “Daily reminder that Jeongyeon loves it when the members include her even if she's not with them.” One added, “What is so hard about putting jeongyeon name in there? i’m tired of this erasure.” Another ONCE commented, “The dispatch staffs should act professionally, yes,jeongyeon is on hiatus but they should respect her, twice is nine and will always be nine.  excluding the members' name just bcs they won't perform is unacceptable. I hope dispatch will hold accountable for this. TWICE IS NINE !”
